Nominees Announced for 2023 Basie Awards, Celebrating Monmouth County High School Theatre
 

(RED BANK, NJ) -- Nominees have been announced for the 2023 Basie Awards, the annual celebration of Monmouth County high school theatre presented by Bank of America, taking place on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank.

 



Theater League of Clifton Will Host Auditions for Musical Comedy "The Prom"
 

(CLIFTON, NJ) -- The Theater League of Clifton will hold auditions for its production of the musical comedy The Prom on May 15 and 17, with call backs by invitation only on May 19. Auditions will be held 7:00pm to 9:30pm. for all three dates at the Living Hope Presbyterian Church, 303 Maplewood Ave., Clifton (one block from Valley Road).

 



Crossroads Theatre Company presents the 2023 Spring Festival
 

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The Spring Festival returns to Crossroads Theatre Company, at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) and runs through June 11, 2023. Off the heels of the nationally acclaimed Genesis Festival, the Spring festival of plays and musicals closes out the Crossroad's 44th season, kicking off with Starchild- the Ballad of Debbie Walker, an electrifying new play by Divinity Roxx, former Beyoncé musical director, Grammy-nominated musician, author, and composer. This world premiere will hit the stage, May 24 - June 3.

 



Vivid Stage presents Meet the Artist New Play Readings at The Summit Library
 

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, will present its annual Meet the Artist new play reading series on Wednesdays, May 3, 17, 24 and 31. All readings will take place at the Summit Public Library, 75 Maple Street, at 7:00pm. The series features works by Richard Willett, Joe Sutton, David Lee White, and Brianna Barrett.

Star-Studded Lineup Set for The "Shore To Rock Hunger" Benefit Concert at Count Basie Center for the Arts
 

(NEPTUNE, NJ) -- Fulfill (the Food Bank for Monmouth and Ocean Counties) has a star-studded lineup of performers scheduled for its inaugural benefit concert at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, NJ on Thursday, May 11. The lineup now includes G.E. Smith, Southside Johnny Lyon, Jesse Malin, Adam Weiner (Low Cut Connie), Jill Hennessy (singer/actress from Crossing Jordan and Law & Order), Early Elton Trio (featuring Jeff Kazee, Rich Pagano and John Conte), Brian Kirk (Brian Kirk & The Jirks), House band featuring Jeff Kazee, G.E. NJPAC Announces 2023-24 Classical Performances
 

(NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) and the Smart Family Foundation; David S. Stone, Esq., Stone & Magnanini are proud to announce the 2023-24 Classical Performances. The season includes iconic and classical favorites including An Afternoon with Itzhak Perlman (Oct. 8) New Jersey Symphony Orchestra's Season Finale with Conductor Xian Zhang and special guest Joshua Bell (June 9 and 11) and beloved fan favorite Midori and Festival String Lucerne (Nov. 5) and Batman In Concert with New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (March 2, 2024).

(MADISON, NJ) -- On March 17 at the Sarasota Jazz Festival, guitarist Diego Figueiredo joined with legendary pianist Dick Hyman to electrify the crowd with duo versions of three Antonio Carlos Jobim tunes, along with Jerome Kern's "All the Things You Are", the traditional Irish folk song, "Danny Boy", and Ernesto Lecuona's "Malaguena". For good measure, Figueiredo added a solo performance of Zequinha de Abreu's "Tico Tico".

Montclair Film Announces Winners of 2nd Annual Emerging Screenwriter Competition
 

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- On Saturday, April 22, Montclair Film held the Awards Ceremony for the second annual Emerging Screenwriters Competition. All the finalists were celebrated at a Red-Carpet Reception at Cinema505. The Grand Prize-winning script was read at a professional table read, and all winners and finalists received professional script notes from the judges.

Ballet Arts and Adelphi Orchestra to Present "Peter and the Wolf"
 

(ORADELL, NJ) -- On the heels of an enormously successful performance of "The Nutcracker", Ballet Arts and Adelphi Orchestra are teaming up once again to bring a totally live production of "Peter and the Wolf" to the stage. This cherished musical masterpiece, composed by Sergei Prokofiev in 1936, tells the story of a young boy named Peter and his adventures with a cast of animal characters, all represented by different instruments. The 30-minute production will feature talented dancers, including a live orchestra and a narrator to guide the audience through the story.

Stockton Foundation Benefit Gala Honors Kesselman, Raises $460,000 for Scholarships
 

(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- The 2023 Stockton University Foundation Scholarship Benefit Gala was a night to remember as nearly 700 members of the Stockton community came together to celebrate the leadership and career of retiring president Harvey Kesselman. The event, held April 22 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, raised more than $460,000 for scholarships.
