Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of "Dazed & Confused" with Screening at The ShowRoom on 4/20

originally published: 04/10/2023

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The ShowRoom will hand over the programming reins to friend & neighbor Wacky Tobaccy Co. for a special 30th Anniversary screening of Dazed & Confused on Thursday, April 20 at 4:20pm. Released in 1993 and set in 1976, the film is director Richard Linklater’s love letter to the smiley face generation. Tickets are on sale now at showroomcinemas.com.

The film follows the adventures of a group of Texas teens on their last day of school, centering on student Randall “Pink” Floyd, who moves easily among stoners, jocks and geeks. Floyd is a star athlete, but he also likes smoking weed, which presents a conundrum when his football coach demands he sign a “no drugs” pledge.

Initially a box office flop, Dazed & Confused has garnered a cult following and continues to find its audience to this day. It is also notable for helping to launch the careers of countless stars including Ben Affleck, Matthew McCaughey, Milla Jovovich, Parker Posey, and an uncredited Renée Zellweger.

So bring a bud and join us for your 4/20 festivities.

“It’d be a lot cooler if you did.”
