Theatre Previews for the Week of April 3-9, 2023 Here are previews of plays taking place from April 3-9 including a look at productions starting, continuing, and closing this week. Plus a look at plays coming soon. Highlights include: Centenary Stage Company's Women Playwrights Series kicks off on Wednesday; The Shot starring Sharon Lawrence opens at NJ Rep on Thursday; Two River Theater's new modern take on Romeo and Juliet opens on Saturday.
Centenary Stage Company's NEXTStage Repertory to present "The Addams Family" (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company's NEXTStage Repertory is currently in rehearsals for the spring musical production of The Addams Family. Performances will take place in the Sitnik Theatre on the Centenary University campus at 715 Grand Ave. Hackettstown, NJ. An original story about every father's nightmare: Wednesday Addams has grown up and fallen in love with a young man from a respectable family - a man her parents have never met.
Spring Solos Series at Vivid Stage Continues with "The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey" (SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, begins with 101 Humiliating Stories by Lisa Kron from April 13-16, kicking off their three-week Spring Solos Series. Second in the series is The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey by James Lecesne (April 20-23); third is Harry Clarke by David Cale (April 27-30). Each of the three solo shows explores the many dimensions that every person contains, and allows each actor to portray a multitude of characters along the way.
George Street Announces Cast and Creative for "Tales from the Guttenberg Bible" (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse (GSP) has announced the full cast for the spring comedy event-- the world premiere of Tales from the Guttenberg Bible written by and starring Steve Guttenberg at the Arthur Laurents Theater at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center. Performances run April 25th to May 21st, 2023.

PHOTOS from An Evening with Leslie Odom, Jr. at MPAC (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- On Friday, March 31, 2023, Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) presented An Evening with Leslie Odom, Jr., the Tony and Grammy Award-winning, three-time Emmy and two-time Academy Award-nominated vocalist, songwriter, author, and actor best known for his Tony-winning role as "Aaron Burr" in Hamilton, performed a mix of jazz-influenced soul, pop, standards and more with his band. Photographer Julie Hoffman was on hand to take photos.

StocktonPAC presents The Brubeck Brothers Quartet (GALLOWAY, NJ) -- The Brubeck Brothers Quartet will share the sweet sounds of jazz with audiences at Stockton University's Performing Arts Center on Friday, April 21. The concert begins at 7:30pm. With Dan and Chris Brubeck as the foundation, guitarist Mike DeMicco and pianist Chuck Lamb, complete this dynamic quartet. They have performed at concert series, colleges and jazz festivals across North America and Europe including the Newport, Detroit, Montreal, Playboy/Hollywood Bowl and Monterey jazz festivals.
Asbury Park Music Foundation Expands "Music Saved My Life" Youth Programs to Red Bank Charter School (RED BANK, NJ) -- The Asbury Park Music Foundation (APMF), in partnership with Lakehouse Music Academy (LHMA) has announced the execution of their 2023 goal to bring music education to kids beyond Asbury Park's borders in 2023. The Music Business & Technology (MB&T) Program and Core Band programs are now in place at Red Bank Charter School. This makes music education accessible to those students within the scope of their core curriculum and eliminates the need for transport to another location.
3rd Annual Washington Rock 'n' Roll and Steampunk Fair to Take Place April 29th (WASHINGTON, NJ) -- Washington will be uniquely "energized" come April 29. The 3rd Annual Washington Rock 'n' Roll and Steampunk Fair combines the steam-powered Victorian Era energy of the classic science fiction genre with a punk and rock ‘n’ roll feel that makes for an amazing day of retro-futuristic fun.

3rd Show for Trevor Noah Added at NJPAC (NEWARK, NJ) -- Due to popular demand, New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) has announced a third show with Trevor Noah. After the success of an extensive world tour in 2022, comedian Trevor Noah is back on the road with his 2023 Off The Record Tour, performing three shows at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC). Noah recently announced the new tour, billed "Off the Record," Tour that will roll through Newark for three performances. The show just added is for Monday, May 22 at 8:00pm to go along with previously announced shows on Tuesday, May 23rd and Wednesday, May 24th both at 8:00pm.

James Yarosh Associates Gallery Presents "Five Artists Sparking Dialogue Through Color" (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Fine Art Conversations/Five Artists, the inaugural 2023 exhibition at James Yarosh Associates Gallery, presents a stimulating celebration of color and debating artistic voices.
