Center Players presents "Deathtrap" (FREEHOLD, NJ) -- Suspense and intrigue are coming to Freehold as Center Players presents Ira Levin's classic thriller, Deathtrap. Directed by Jeff Caplan of Freehold, the production will run from April 14-30, 2023 at Center Playhouse (35 South Street) in Freehold.
Kelsey Players and Tomato Patch Productions Present Disney's "High School Musical Jr." Live on Stage at MCCC's Kelsey Theatre (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- MCCC's Kelsey Players and Tomato Patch Productions with special arrangement by Music Theatre International (MTI) are proud to present Disney's infectiously fun "High School Musical Jr" March 24-26 at Kelsey Theatre on the West Windsor campus of Mercer County Community College.
Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University presents "King of the Yees" by Lauren Yee (PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater will present King of the Yees by Lauren Yee on April 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15 at 8:00pm at the Berlind Theatre at McCarter Theatre Center at 91 University Place on the Princeton campus. The production is directed by guest artist Bi Jean Ngo and features lighting design by Princeton senior Angelica Qin. In Yee's semi-autobiographical play, her father, Larry, has been a driving force for nearly 20 years in the Yee Family Association, a seemingly obsolescent Chinese American men's club formed a hundred fifty years ago in the wake of the Gold Rush and the building of the transcontinental railroad.
Laurin Talese Stars as Billie Holiday in "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill" at Philadelphia Theatre Company (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Audiences are invited to step back in time to a seedy Philadelphia bar in 1959 for the final performance of jazz icon Billie Holiday. Philadelphia Theatre Company (PTC) is proud to produce Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill, written by Lanie Robertson with musical arrangements by Danny Holgate. This Tony Award-winning Broadway and television play with music will be directed by PTC Resident Artist Jeffrey L. Page, fresh from his triumphant revival of 1776 on Broadway, for which he served as co-director and choreographer.

Rock, Ribs & Ridges Festival to return for 13th Annual Year in June (AUGUSTA, NJ) -- It's never too early to think about summer and the unique Southern Rock music festival to kick off the concert season: Rock, Ribs & Ridges Festival. The festival, presented by Franklin Sussex Auto Mall, is returning to the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, NJ from June 23-25. Top legends of Southern rock-the Artimus Pyle Band, 38 Special and Blackberry Smoke are a few of the headline acts set to perform for the 13th annual music and barbecue festival. Other not-to-be-missed acts include the Devon Allman Project, Samantha Fish featuring Jesse Dayton and Dead on Live performing Grateful Dead Favorites, among others.
New Jersey Youth Symphony Returns to The Mills at Jersey Gardens for its Annual PLAYATHON (ELIZABETH, NJ) -- The New Jersey Youth Symphony (NJYS) returns to The Mills at Jersey Gardens, New Jersey's largest outlet and value retail center, for its annual Playathon on Sunday, March 26. Nearly 500 talented young musicians will entertain shoppers with pops favorites, including symphonic highlights from Harry Potter, The Lord of The Rings, and Star Wars. In addition to the festival orchestra performance in Center Court at 3:00pm, two additional stages will feature NJYS jazz, woodwind, and percussion performers beginning at 12:30pm.

New Jersey Symphony Celebrates 100 Years with Steven Mackey's world premiere, RIOT (NEWARK, NJ) -- This April 21-23, Steven Mackey's RIOT receives its world premiere with the New Jersey Symphony led by Music Director Xian Zhang featuring the Princeton University Glee Club Choir, directed by Gabriel Crouch, joined by mezzo-soprano Alicia Olatuja and Mackey himself on electric guitar. The large-scale work, written in collaboration with former U. S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith, was composed in honor of New Jersey Symphony's centennial season The performance will also feature Mozart's Symphony No. 25 and his Overture to Don Giovanni as well as Bruckner's Te Deum.
YES Epics & Classics featuring Jon Anderson Comes to NJPAC in April (NEWARK, NJ) -- Metropolitan Entertainment and New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) will present YES Epics & Classics featuring Jon Anderson at NJPAC on Sunday, April 16, 2023. The legendary YES vocalist/songwriter will be performing classic YES tracks, including "And You and I," "Starship Trooper," "Heart of the Sunrise," and others. Showtime is 7:30pm.

Roxey Ballet Participates in Rutgers Autism Study (FRENCHTOWN, NJ) -- Roxey Ballet is honored to be participating in an Autism research study with Rutgers University and the NJ Autism Center of Excellence, contributing data via movement and motion for their upcoming international conference, "Rethinking Autism for the 21st Century". The study is being led by Professor Elizabeth B. Torres, PhD, Director of the Sensory Motor Integration Lab at Rutgers and features a creative partnership with Mark Roxey, Artistic Director of Roxey Ballet, and his artists, with the purpose of learning more about the Autism spectrum from a multidisciplinary perspective, through the fields Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Grounds For Sculpture Exhibition Celebrates Rich Tapestry and Diversity of New Jersey's Indian Diaspora (HAMILTON, NJ) -- This spring, a Grounds For Sculpture exhibition will present a multi-faceted portrait of the Indian diasporic community in New Jersey, through first-person narratives, images, and objects. Local Voices: Memories, Stories, and Portraits is created in partnership with 15 community members and led by artist, teacher, and journalist Madhusmita "Madhu" Bora. It is one of two concurrent exhibitions that inaugurate the new Perspectives series at GFS and explore the role of creating person-centered exhibitions, ensuring individual and communal agency in the art of storytelling.

Princeton Arts Fellows for 2023-2025 Announced (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Choreographer and director Raja Feather Kelly and musician and interdisciplinary artist eddy kwon have been named Princeton University Arts Fellows for 2023-2025 by the Lewis Center for the Arts and will begin two years of teaching and community collaboration at the University in September.
