(HAWTHORNE, NJ) -- The 1st Annual White Vulture Film Festival and Vulture Awards will take place February 22-23, 2023, on two screens at the Hawthorne Theater, 300 Lafayette Ave, Hawthorne NJ. The festival will consist of two full days of screenings and co-hosted by Flavio Romeo, Hawthorne resident and host of the Towncast and New York actor Anna Swanson. The evening of February 23rd (8:00pm) will conclude with an Award Ceremony to be held at Macaluso’s Event Hall, also in Hawthorne, which will be open to the public as well.
The screenings are free to the public and all are encouraged to attend as many screenings as they like and participate in the many Question and Answer sessions to be held with an incredible variety of filmmakers from around the world.
WVFF developed this event, not only to make the festival accessible to local filmmakers, but to include attendees from across the country and around the world, with filmmakers visiting from Japan, Peru, Australia, the United Kingdom and Latvia. There will be films being screened from every continent on Earth (except Antarctica).
WVFF has created a truly “Art First” format, and all films adhere to our standard of acknowledging “uncompromised beauty and risk-taking in the art of film”... some films are avant-garde, some are shocking, some are moving… but all are the highest level of art from around the globe.
This inaugural event will be in Hawthorne, New Jersey, who will be celebrating their 125th anniversary and all involved have a special connection to the Hawthorne Theater and the area at large. For more information and screening times, visit www.whitevulturetheater.com
