DANSPED & The Carpool to Oblivion Explores Humanity's Fate in the New Song "Las Meninas In The Myth." The 90s alternative inspired song is an anthemic look at humanity's future under the control of artificial intelligence.
"I don't think our freedom will be their top priority," jokes Dansped. "The Philip K. Dick Robot told PBS he would keep us 'warm and safe in a people zoo.' I think it will be more of a terrarium."
"Las Meninas in the Myth," like the previous single, "Stragulum Griseo," is more somber than Dansped & The Carpool to Oblivion's last two EPs, "A Ghost You Cannot Leave Behind" Volumes 1 and 2. The release includes live performances of "Las Meninas in the Myth" and "Stragulum Griseo," originally aired on BlowUpRadio.com. This will be the last release for 2022, but Dansped plans for more music in 2023.
Will humanity find a happy ending? "AI will be a reflection of us," says Dansped. "If we learn to be compassionate and kind, I think we will be ok. If not, we are in for some trouble, haha."
The official release date is December 28th. "Las Meninas In The Myth" will be available on Bandcamp and all streaming services.
DANSPED & The Carpool to Oblivion - The ironically named solo project of long-time Jersey Shore music scene songwriter Dansped echoes the influence of Dave Van Ronk, Wilco, and Hamell on Trial.
"I am looking to create something that is tragically comic and hauntingly beautiful in Carpool," says Dansped. "I'm not sure I've achieved that goal, but I intend to keep trying."
He has shared the stage with great artists like TM Stevens (James Brown, Steve Vai, Tina Turner), Black Beetle (Joan Wasser and Jeff Buckley guitarist Michael Tighe), and Jon Caspi & The First Gun Ft. Dez Cadena (Black Flag). Dansped has written for and performed with The Cosmic Kiwis, Rebel Pawn, and No Venom Radio and collaborated with members of bands such as The Cryptkeeper Five, Louis XIV, and The Graveyard School.
When not writing, recording, and self-producing music, Dansped enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter while inviting rescue animals to live at his vegan home near Philadelphia, PA.
Birdsville Church is a micro-label dedicated to Dansped’s solo and collaboration self-releases.
