Brunch to Benefit Friends of Cedar View on October 16th

(HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- On Sunday, October 16th, 2022 from 11:00am to 1:00pm, the Friends of Cedar View will be holding a Fundraiser Brunch for the continued restoration and care of Historic Cedar View Cemetery in Lincroft, NJ. The event will be held at Chilangos Mexican Restaurant, 272 Bay Ave. Highlands, NJ. There will be a limited menu with appetizers, choice of entree, and dessert. There will also be unlimited margaritas, sangria, beer and wine to compliment the meal.

Our Host, Leo Cervantes, the owner of Chilangos, is an Award Winning Chef and has also been seen on the Food Network Competition, Supermarket Stakeout. He is also a favorite Chef of Bruce Springsteen. He has prepared meals for Springsteen on many occasions. When attending a Springsteen concert, Bruce knew Leo was in the audience and shouted out, “We have Chilangos in the house.” Leo making that statement the title of his book, “Chilangos in the House” which tells the story of Leo’s travels from Mexico City to the US as a dishwasher and eventually owning his own restaurant and much more.

Tickets are $75.00 per person and seating is limited to 75 people. Tickets are available for purchase online.

This event and Friends of Cedar View are supported by: Church of St. Leo the Great, Middletown Township Council, Monmouth Conservation Foundation, Engineering & Land Planning Associates, Inc. (E&LP), Pilgrim Baptist Church, Sunrise Title Agency and T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center.

The mission of the Friends of Cedar View is to preserve and protect the African-American Cedar View Cemetery founded on November 14, 1850 in Lincroft, New Jersey; to ensure the continued solemnity of this hallowed ground; and to bring increased awareness of the cemetery's unique historical and cultural value to the public. The Friends of Cedar View is a registered 501 (c) 3 Organization. Donations are welcome and can be made via check to Friends of Cedar View PO Box 371, Lincroft, NJ 07738 or via their website.
