Two River Theater presents "Wine in the Wilderness" (RED BANK, NJ) -- Wine in the Wilderness, written by Drama Desk Award winner Alice Childress and directed by Obie Award winner Brandon J. Dirden (director of August Wilson’s Radio Golf and King Hedley II) launches Two River Theater’s 2022-2023 season on October 15 and runs through November 6, 2022.
Art House Productions Announces 2022-2023 INKubator Playwrights (JERSEY CITY, NJ) – Art House Productions has announced the 2022-2023 cohort of its INKubator Program. INKubator is a year-long new play process for a select group of 6 New Jersey-Associated playwrights in residence at Art House Productions. This year's playwrights are Micharne Cloughley, Amir-Gabriel Gad, Adin Lenahan, Iraisa Ann Reilly, Edwin Rivera-Arias, and Emmy Weissman.
Bergen County Players Opens Up New Block of Tickets for "Ragtime: The Musical" (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America’s longest-running little theater companies, opened its 90th season to raves with one of the most ambitious productions ever mounted by BCP - Ragtime: The Musical. A new block of tickets has just been released for Thursday, October 13 at 8:00pm. Performances run through Saturday, October 15 at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell with shows on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:00pm.
Luna Stage presents World Premiere of Zachary Elkind’s new adaptation of Shakespeare's "Richard II" (WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Luna Stage will present the World Premiere of Zachary Elkind’s new adaptation of Shakespeare’s Richard II from October 20 to November 13 on the MainStage. Streamlined to a fleet 90 minutes, the play features four actors playing 16 roles, and highlights the humor and urgency of this taut, intimate, heartbreakingly political tragedy.
Hudson Theatre Works presents "Machinal" (WEEHAWKEN, NJ) -- Hudson Theatre Works' “Theatre On The Edge” presents Machinal by Sophie Treadwell from October 20 to November 6, 2022 at the Theatre at the Wilson School in Weehawken. In this 1928 feminist tour-de-force, a young woman struggles to find her place in a society that was not made for her. Treadwell uses theatrical expressionism to portray a world that has become impersonal and unfeeling; a world that only has room for those who are willing to submit and conform.
PHOTOS from "Once On This Island" at CDC Theatre (CRANFORD, NJ) -- Cranford’s CDC Theatre is presenting the Tony Award winning musical Once On This Island on Friday and Saturday nights from October 7-22. The play comes from the award winning songwriting team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Seussical, Anastasia, Ragtime). This highly original and theatrical Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale, The Little Mermaid, earned eight Tony nominations for its Broadway run, including Best Musical, Book and Score. Lewis Center for the Arts’ Program in Theater presents "Affecting Expression" (PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Lewis Center for the Arts’ Program in Theater at Princeton University presents Affecting Expression, a new queer tragicomedy by Princeton alum Eliana Cohen-Orth. The play tells the tale of three queer women from history — actress Charlotte Cushman, writer Matilda Hays, and sculptor Hatty Hosmer — as they navigate their intersecting artistic paths and the complexities of their relationships with each other and within the increasingly unreliable walls of their home. The production is directed by Princeton senior Eliyana Abraham and features senior Rosemary Paulson. Performances, which are free and open to the public, are Friday and Saturday, October 7 and 8 at 8:00pm and Sunday, October 9 at 2:00pm in the Wallace Theater at the Lewis Arts complex on the Princeton campus; no tickets are required.

University Of Florida Athletic Association To Celebrate The First Inaugural Tom Petty Day (GAINESVILLE, FL) -- The University of Florida Athletic Association will celebrate the first annual ‘Tom Petty Day’ on Saturday, October 15, 2022, in conjunction with the Gators football game against LSU. The University has also announced it will award the legendary icon an honorary Doctor of Music in May 2023.

State Theatre presents "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents a screening of the cult classic movie musical, The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Saturday, October 22 at 11:00pm. Prior to the screening, the State Theatre is hosting a pre-show party with a full-service bar and DJ from 9:00pm to 11:00pm. The evening will be hosted by Rutgers University’s Cabaret Theatre. Borough Approves Plans for Carteret Stages, a Movie Studio Component of $1 Billion Waterfront Redevelopment (CARTERET, NJ) -- The borough planning board recently approved a preliminary site plan for Shrewsbury-based J. Bezzone Inc. to develop a 1.2 million square foot, 15-story multi-use project on a portion of the former DuPont site in the Chrome Waterfront Redevelopment Zone north of Veterans Pier and Carteret Waterfront Park.

Easterseals NJ Urges Employers to Hire People with Disabilities (EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Looking for a job is never easy, but the challenges multiply for the one-in-four New Jerseyans living with a disability, as reflected by the high rate of unemployment within this group. People with disabilities are both unemployed and under-employed, in spite of today’s hiring crisis. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, not even one in five people with a disability was employed in 2021, while in the same year, nearly two-thirds of people without a disability had jobs.
