PHOTOS from "Forever Plaid" at The Barn Theatre (MONTVILLE, NJ) -- The Barn Theatre is presenting Forever Plaid over three weekends from September 16 to October 2nd. On the way to their gig, tragedy strikes Forever Plaid, a “guy group” specializing in barbershop quartet harmonies and pitch-perfect melodies. Forever Plaid begins when the guys are given the chance to perform from the afterlife. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.
Centenary Stage Company’s Young Audience Series presents "A Year with Frog and Toad" (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company’s Young Audience Series returns for the 2022-2023 season with A Year with Frog and Toad October 14 through 17. Performances will take place in the Little Theatre of the Centenary University campus located at 400 Jefferson St. Hackettstown, NJ. A Year with Frog and Toad tells the story of two friends, the cheerful and popular Frog, and the rather grumpy Toad.
Passage Theatre Company presents "Blues In My Soul" (TRENTON, NJ) -- It's 1959. Chris, a local DJ, gets word that legendary jazz and blues musician Lonnie Johnson is working a low-wage job at a Philly hotel, forgotten. Once found, Lonnie, an early guitar hero who influenced the likes of Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, T-Bone Walker, Django Reinhardt, Charlie Christian, B.B. King, and Eric Clapton, is reluctant to return to an industry that exploited and segregated his work before casting him aside. As the two men meet, conflicts arise, forcing each to reconcile issues of authenticity, injustice, and legacy. Based on a true story, Blues in My Soul is a celebration of an unsung American legend and the music that inspired generations. Presented by Passage Theatre Company in Trenton, New Jersey, this production explores the profound connections that can be made through the catalytic power of art.

This is a stage-play that reimagines the unsolved Hall-Mills Double Homicide of 1922! Performances start up on the Centennial Anniversary of the tragedy. Grunin Center presents comedian Paul Reiser (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Veteran actor, writer and stand-up comedian Paul Reiser will perform at the Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts at Ocean County College on Saturday, October 8 at 8:00pm, with singer-songwriter Vance Gilbert opening the evening. Tickets are $55-35.

Horror movie filmed in Somerset County Premieres on Amazon Prime (BEDMINSTER, NJ) -- The upcoming thriller Goodnight Mommy with Naomi Watts was filmed entirely at a house in Bedminster. The movie, a remake of the 2014 Austrian movie of the same name, follows twin brothers who arrive at their mother’s country home and begin to suspect that something isn’t right. This Animal Kingdom production is directed by Matt Sobel and written by Kyle Warren. Joshua Astrachan, Nicolas Brigaud-Robert, V.J. Guibal, and David Kaplan serve as producers with Watts as executive producer. The movie will be released September 16th on Amazon Prime.
