(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Outpost in the Burbs will kickoff its 35th Anniversary of “Music and More in Montclair” with a ‘MiniFest’ on Saturday September 17th at 2:00pm. This free, family-friendly event will take place on the lawn in front of the First Congregational Church, 40 South Fullerton Avenue. The raindate is Sunday, September 18th at 2:00pm. Audience members are encouraged to bring folding chairs and blankets.

Musical performers include an array of Montclair-area artists featuring: Jason Didner (children’s set at 2:00pm), Sammy Mellman, Ed Seifert, Stacia Thiel, Eddie Nicholas, Meg Patrick, Scott E. Moore, Big Mamou, and a special “Outpost Allstars” set including David Amlen, Rob Halper, and Judy Cangialosi.

There will be a trivia contest with signed CD giveaways, other prizes, and children’s activities. Light refreshments will be for sale as well as tickets to upcoming Outpost shows and information on volunteering, sponsorships, and memberships. Remarks will include recognition of Outpost volunteers and its founders.

Outpost volunteers will be collecting donations of non-perishable foods for the Little Free Pantry run by the Northeast Earth Coalition.

Since 1987, the “Outpost” concert series has included both established and emerging artists and has provided its audience with an exceptional and intimate live-music experience. International touring artists have included Judy Collins, Roger McGuinn, Jorma Kaukonen, Jimmy Webb, Richie Havens, The Jayhawks, Nick Lowe, Richard Thompson, and Dar Williams. The Outpost also presents emerging artists through its “New Voices” series.

In addition to concerts, Outpost volunteers participate in a variety of community service activities, such as its own monthly soup kitchen and meals for MESH (Montclair Emergency Services for Hope) during the summer. Throughout the pandemic, the Outpost supported artists through virtual concerts as well as presented an online fundraiser for the Human Needs Food Pantry of Montclair and Toni’s Kitchen. Since its inception, Outpost in the Burbs has provided volunteers, patrons, and artists with a warm and supportive community and has drawn patrons from the tri-state area to Montclair, many of whom enjoy a meal in a local restaurant before a show.

Outpost in the Burbs is pleased to be part of Montclair’s vibrant downtown business district and artistic scene and is excited about its upcoming 35th Anniversary season. Announced shows (as of this release) include: Carsie Blanton (9/23); A Tribute to the music of John Prine with Joe D’Urso and friends (10/7); Jonathan Richman (10/15); Beth Orton (11/3); and Lucy Kaplansky (11/18). In addition to these concerts, the Outpost will be present “Somebody’s Daughter,” a one-woman show with Zara Philips (12/10), and Richard Thompson (1/14).
