Playwright Ruth Kirschner to hold Writing Workshop at Centenary University


(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Ruth Kirschner will be offering a Writing Workshop on Saturday, April 2 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm following the opening night of Whippoorwill. The Writing Workshop will take place in the President Circle Room of the Lackland Performing Arts Center at 715 Grand Avenue, Hackettstown, NJ on the campus of Centenary University. This event is free to the public and reservations are strongly encouraged. For those who attend the Writing Workshop, tickets will be $10.00 each for the Saturday, April 2 performance at 8:00pm by Centenary Stage Company.
RVCC to present Javier Ávila’s one-man show "The Trouble with My Name"


(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- Raritan Valley Community College will present a live performance of Javier Ávila’s one-man show, The Trouble with My Name, April 14 at 4:00pm. The program will be held in-person in the Nash Theatre at the College’s Branchburg campus and also will run as a virtual webinar. The high-octane, poignant, and hilarious one-man show consolidates Ávila’s talents as a poet and professor.

Smooth Vocals, R&B and All that Jazz at The Woodland on April 23rd


(MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- Spring fever is at its peak at the historic Woodland Mansion in Maplewood, NJ on Saturday, April 23rd. Smooth Vocals R&B with Maysa Leak (Deep Waters) Grammy Nominee. All that jazz with classical flutist turned Jazz flutist Alexander Zonjic (multiple winner Detroit Music Awards) and funk provided by the incomparable keys of James Lloyd from Pieces of a Dream, Kris Kurzawa (Guitar), Jeff Candy (Drums), and Mike Harrington (Bass). The event starts at 8:00pm and is presented by Smooth Jazz NJ and the Maplewood Division of Arts & Culture at the Woodland in Maplewood.
Midtown Announces Additional Headline Shows


(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The fans have spoken and Midtown is listening. With two sold out shows already on the books for Starland Ballroom this December, the legendary punk act has announced additional headline dates. Fans will be able to catch them at Mulcahy’s in Wantagh on December 9th and at The Palladium in Worcester on December 10th.
Willie Nelson, Family & Friends bring Outlaw Music Festival to Camden


(CAMDEN, NJ) -- Willie Nelson, Mark Rothbaum, Keith Wortman, Blackbird Presents, Live Nation, and the Outlaw Music Festival Tour are heading back on the road again. Willie will be live and in concert with his family and friends, including Willie Nelson & Family, Chris Stapleton, The Avett Brothers, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Billy Strings, ZZ Top, Gov’t Mule, Brothers Osborne, Zach Bryan, Steve Earle & The Dukes, Allison Russell, Charley Crockett, Larkin Poe, The War and Treaty, Brittney Spencer, Particle Kid and more as part of the 20+ stop tour starting this summer.  The tour comes to the Waterfront Music Pavilion in Camden on Friday, September 23rd.

Whitney Cummings To Have Four Performances At NJPAC


(NEWARK, NJ) -- NJPAC will present four outrageous performances of comedian Whitney Cummings' popular "Touch Me" stand-up comedy show on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14 at 7:00pm and 9:30pm. "Touch Me" is a play on Cummings most recent Netflix special, "Can I Touch It" and will destigmatize and celebrate the importance of being together again after over months of isolation. The beautiful thing about the phrase "Touch Me", is that it has multiple meanings: the most obvious of course, is physical touch but there is also being touched emotionally, intellectually, spiritually and Cummings will cover it all.

"Monmouth County, 9/11, and Its Aftermath" to be screened at Garden State Film Festival


(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Monmouth County, 9/11, and Its Aftermath film, produced by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, will be featured in the 20th Anniversary Garden State Film Festival in Asbury Park. Clerk Hanlon will host a segment of the festival on March 26 at 11:45am at the Berkeley Hotel to introduce films relating to public policy and our local communities, which will include the showing of Monmouth County, 9/11, and Its Aftermath.

Arts Utopia in Frenchtown


What first made Invisible visible to me were artist Vasiliki Katsarou’s posts about her installation, in which gumball machines dispense haiku poems on fortune cookie-sized pieces of paper. Invisible – besides being the state of eluding observation – is an exhibition at ArtYard in Frenchtown (on view through April 10) that looks at “omitted histories and unspoken narratives” through the work of 12 artists.

Live Arts Centers of North America Create BIPOC Executive Leadership In The Arts Program


(LOS ANGELES, CA) -- Responding to the challenges of structural racism in performing arts institutions across the U.S. and Canada, Live Arts Centers of North America (LACNA), a coalition of more than 50 of the largest performing arts centers in both countries, and the LACNA Foundation today announced the launch of the BIPOC Executive Leadership in the Arts Program. Supported by AMS Planning & Research Corporation, NAS, and Stanford University, this first-of-its-kind program is designed to accelerate the development of management and leadership skills among qualified mid-career BIPOC professionals and provide them with a pathway to pursue executive positions in the two nations’ most significant cultural institutions.
Over $2.1 million in Middlesex County Arts, History, and Historic Preservation & Capital Grants awarded for 2022


Middlesex County has announced 2022 Arts & History Grant Awards in the amount of $2,178,672 to 109 municipal agencies and local nonprofit arts and history organizations.

Liberty Base Ball Club of New Brunswick is in search of new players


(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ) -- Middlesex County’s Liberty Base Ball Club of New Brunswick is looking for players. The club plays base ball (originally two words) by 1850s rules, using period-accurate replica uniforms, bats, balls, bases, and other equipment. The club competes against other historically accurate opponents across the tri-state area and strives to remain true to the time they represent while maintaining a competitive presence on the field.
