Hudson Theatre Works' PlayWorks Festival of New Play Readings Takes Part During Stages Festival


(WEEHAWKEN, NJ) -- New Jersey Theatre Alliance presents Hudson Theatre Works’ PlayWorks Festival of new play readings on Monday, March 14th and Monday, March 21st at7:30pm. This event is part of the Alliance’s Stages Festival, the state’s largest annual theatre festival, which provides free and discounted theatre events for all ages throughout the months of March, April, and May. This event is free with a $10 suggested donation.
Black Box PAC Presents NJ Premiere of Paul Schrader's "The Cleopatra Club"


(ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- Black Box PAC's 2022 Save Our Stages season continues with the NJ Premiere of Paul Schrader's The Cleopatra Club, courtesy of the legendary filmmaker! The production runs from March 24 through April 10, 2022. In the play, a mysterious robbery in a Cairo hotel spurs an over-the-hill film critic and a once-celebrated movie producer to search for meaning in the twilight of their Hollywood careers--and finally come to terms with their mutual friend’s untimely death.
Center Players Presents World Premiere of "A Tomato Can’t Grow in the Bronx"


(FREEHOLD, NJ) -- Center Players of Freehold presents the world premiere of Gary Morgenstein’s A Tomato Can’t Grow in the Bronx, a multi-generational comedy/drama set against the backdrop of the tumultuous 1960s. Directed by Bernice Garfield-Szita, the production runs from April 1-10, 2022.

Conductor Rossen Milanov To Lead Symphony in C on March 12th


(COLLINGSWOOD, NJ) -- Symphony in C is thrilled to welcome back former Music Director Rossen Milanov on March 12th at 8:00pm at Rutgers University-Camden’s Gordon Theater Maestro Milanov led Symphony in C from 2000-2015, and currently serves as Music Director of the Columbus and Princeton Symphonies, among others. The brilliant young violinist William Hagen, who thrilled the audience in 2018 with his stunning performance of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, returns to perform Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, Op. 47 in D minor.  The concert closes with Brahms' powerful Symphony No. 1 in C minor Op. 68.

Trenton Film Society presents Oscar-Nominated Short Films


(TRENTON, NJ) -- The Trenton Film Society is back at the Mill Hill Playhouse, bringing you in-person showings of the Oscar-nominated short films of 2022, in the categories of documentary, live-action, and animation. The New York Times reviewer remarked, “this yearʼs shorts are an eclectic bunch”; don’t miss out! Unlike last year, the showings are not virtual but live! Since we are back in person all attendees are required to show an ID and proof of vaccination to be admitted, and everyone must wear a mask at all times.
2022 Garden State Film Festival to Screen Over 200 Films


(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- New Jersey’s Premier Independent Film Festival will roll out the red carpet to celebrate 20 years and returns live this year bigger and better than ever. Following 2020’s virtual and 2021’s successful hybrid events, this year returns to in person screenings and events. Running In person March 23 – 27 in Cranford and Asbury Park, NJ, followed by a week of Virtual Access March 28-April 3, 2022. Screening this year are more than 200 films from 17 countries, hosting parties, professional panels, events, special honors and more.

Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company presents "The Awakening"


(NEW YORK, NY) -- Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company presents the Awakening on March 24, 25, 26, 2022 at 7:30pm and March 27, 2022 at 3:00pm at the New York Live Arts Theater. Awakening is the final production of the late choreographer Nai-Ni Chen before her untimely passing in December 2021.

Italy Whitehead Named State Champion at the 2022 New Jersey Poetry Out Loud State Finals


Italy Whitehead, a junior from Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy in Elizabeth, was named State Champion at the 2022 New Jersey Poetry Out Loud (NJPOL) State Finals competition, part of the National Poetry Out Loud recitation program. The virtual adjudication took place on March 1st, and a compilation video broadcast the following day on the NJPOL YouTube channel.
