(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Jersey City’s own In Full Color: Empowering Women of Color (IFC) and OpenRoad Poetry (ORP) for Behind the Scenes Sundays: “Elemental Emotions” by Crystal Davis to be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Dineen Hull Gallery in Jersey City, NJ. Attendance has been strictly limited to live streaming via Facebook on OpenRoad Poetry and In Full Color Accounts as spacing is limited and tickets have been sold out.
Join us as IFC alumni, Crystal Davis of Crystal Letters and ORP, gives us a sneak peek from her first book release, Elemental Emotions and discusses the process as a poet, author and graphic designer on finding the storyline through words and images to create a cohesive, gripping work of art. Attendees are welcome to share Questions and participate in the open mic segment. Hosted and curated by RescuePoetix TM.
“Crystal is an incredible artist. We are always excited to feature her work on our stage, and are so honored to help her introduce her first book to the world. While her creations are very much grounded in the elements, in nature and in the human experience, her writing is altogether transcendent...So many of her fans are talented writers as well, and the open mic portion of this will definitely be lit!” said Summer Dawn, founder of In Full Color and host of Behind the Scenes Sundays.
Audience members can register in advance to attend here.
“It’s been an incredible adventure to watch the artist, writer and entrepreneur evolve into a force to contend with. Crystal pours her passion, experience and love of this world into her first offering of poetry and visual art collection that represents her in every way,” says Jersey City Poet Laureate, RescuePoetixTM and event curator for Behind the Scenes Sundays: “Elemental Emotions” by Crystal Davis.
OpenRoad Poetry celebrates their second year with a bang featuring works from their co-founder and performances by in-person and virtual artists during the open mic portion of the event. This is part of Hudson County Community College's Behind the Scenes Sundays, an event series inviting audiences to join artists at work -- and perhaps even create art of their own! In Full Color is the first group of resident artists for the program, with events on March 6, 13, and 20.
“This segment of IFC: Behind the Scene Sundays is a sneak peek of what’s to come once Elemental Emotions is published. In celebration of OpenRoad Poetry’s 2-year anniversary, this just felt right. I’m honored that I’ll have a chance to read some of my poetry and artwork from the book at Hudson County Community College. It's been a long time coming and I’m excited to begin to share it with the world. Having the opportunity to see my book slowly come to life with the support of In Full Color, Rescue Poetix TM, and some amazing friends, what more could I ask for?” says Crystal Davis, poet and artist of Elemental Emotions.
