Lighthouse International Film Society to screen "One All The Way" and "The Automat"

originally published: 02/20/2022

(SURF CITY, NJ) -- The Lighthouse International Film Society will be screening One All the Way (a short film), and the feature length The Automat on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Surf City Firehouse.   It will be a "Two Docs and a Dog Night". In other words, a double documentary film night and hot dogs at The Surf City Firehouse. We will be serving up Texas Style Hot dogs along with two side dishes before the show. Doors open at 6:30pm, film screening begins at 7:00pm.

One All The Way is a short documentary that follows 83 year-old Harry and his friends, Ron and Larry, who have a crazy obsession and are always searching for the best  “Hot Texas Weiner,” a deep-fried concoction found only in their hometown of Paterson, NJ. The touching and poignant journey finds a way to inspire every lover of hot dogs and humanity....... and, YES, of course, "Hot Texas Weiners" will be served at the event!  Filmmaker David Baram will be attending.

Once upon a nickel, before fast food, Starbucks, and hip coffee shops, one American restaurant empire, Horn & Hardart's The Automat, was the place to be.  Everyone was welcome at the The Automat - - street sweepers, starving artists, Broadway hopefuls, politicians, and uptown debutantes.  Experience the untold story of Horn & Hardart's The Automat in a documentary film directed by Lisa Hurwitz, starring Mel Brooks and with appearances by Colin Powell, Ruth Bader-Ginsburg, and Starbucks Coffee founder, Howard Schultz.

Tickets are $10 in advance and are available for purchase online.  Tickets are $12 at the door.  Ticket & Texas Style Hot dog & 2 sides- $16.00. Ticket at Door & Texas Style Hot dog & 2 sides-$18.00. Libations & beverages will be available. Reservations are appreciated as space is limited.

The Surf City Firehouse is located at 713 Long Beach Boulevard in Surf City, New Jersey. Lighthouse thanks their Surf City sponsors, Wally's, Scojo's, and the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission, for their support.
