Hopewell Theater Returns With Eclectic Shows For The Spring

originally published: 02/07/2022

(HOPEWELL, NJ) --  After being closed for the winter, Hopewell Theater will be reopening in February with a Valentine’s Day show, followed by a robust spring schedule featuring a variety of live music, live performance, comedy, film, and special programs March through May of 2022.

LIVE MUSIC LINEUP: Experience live music with loved ones in a Valentine’s Weekend Show featuring James Maddock, a fixture on the folk and Americana scene. Hopewell’s local rock artist, Danielia Cotton, returns to the stage in March with an album release concert, plus optional VIP sound check access. April brings in four exciting concerts: folk icon Ellis Paul, rock legend Willie Nile, folk-rock band Adam Ezra Group, and contemporary jazz artist Madeleine Peyroux. May will feature singer-songwriter David Wilcox, folk-rocker Jeffrey Gaines, guitarist Ana Egge, “trumpet lady” Syreeta Thompson with opener Mine Road, and finally, a Simon & Garfunkel Songbook Show by Aztec Two-Step 2.0.

THEATER & STAND-UP COMEDY LINEUP: Hopewell Theater’s stage is alive with live performances and stand-up comedy. For March, International Women’s Month, see Independence, a one-woman play and true story about the incredible Dr. Mary Walker. For April, Jazz Appreciation Month, baritone showman Keith Spencer pays tribute to Nat “King” Cole and other legends with That Old Black Magic. Then, in May, take a night off with stand-up comedy shows Funny Women of a Certain Age and Laughter is Addictive with Frank Vignola.

OPEN MIC: Hopewell Theater’s fan favorite open mic series, Your Stage at Any Stage, also returns this year, once again hosted by Michelle Klein of The Peasant Grill. The open mic takes place on the third Thursday of March, April, and May.

INDEPENDENT FILM & MOVIES: Miss the movies? In March, Hopewell Theater’s big screen will light up with the 2022 Oscar Nominated Short Films - Animation, Live Action, and Documentary. May brings a continuation of the theater’s Films That Made Music series, which will feature Syreeta Thompson’s documentary, Blow Yo Horn, with a post-film panel discussion.
