Centenary Stage Company’s NEXTStage Repertory presents Lanford Wilson’s "Book of Days"


(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company’s NEXTStage Repertory presents Lanford Wilson’s Book of Days February 10 through 14 in the Little Theatre located in the Seay Building of the Centenary University campus at 400 Jefferson Street, Hackettstown, NJ. When murder roars through a small Missouri town, Ruth Hoch begins her own quest to find truth and honesty amid small town jealousies, religion, greed and lies.  This tornado of a play propels you through its events like a page-turning mystery. 


Music Mountain Theatre Announces 2022 Season


(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre will return to performances on January 28th with their first show of the 2022 season, Noises Off! Called “the funniest farce ever written,” Noises Off follows a second-rate company of actors rehearsing a flop of a show called Nothing’s On. The actors' lives and loves are interwoven and complicated, with out of control egos, memory loss, and passionate affairs turning every performance into a high-risk adventure with slamming doors, falling trousers and many plates of flying sardines!


Two River To Hold Auditions for A Little Shakespeare: Much Ado About Nothing


(RED BANK, NJ) -- Calling all young Bard-lovers! Two River Theater is seeking talented high schoolers for their upcoming production of A Little Shakespeare: Much Ado About Nothing. Now in its ninth year, A Little Shakespeare is one of Two River’s most popular education programs which brings together a cast and crew of area high school students to work with theater professionals in creating an abridged production of one of Shakespeare’s works.

Our Favorite Stories In Music - Dr. Demento Covered In Punk


New Jersey Stage published its 25,000th story in December 2021. As the site approached the milestone, we posed the question on social media as how we should celebrate.  One response was to highlight our favorite stories from over the years.  We liked this idea, but could not narrow things down to just 25 favorites so we will present a favorite each day from different genres.  Every Monday we feature one of our favorite stories in music. This week's choice is Dr. Demento Covered In Punk, a look at a special compilation album with artists covering memorable songs from the legendary radio program.


Kansas To Be Featured At 2022 New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning


(READINGTON, NJ) -- America’s preeminent progressive rock band Kansas has been announced as the first featured concert headliner at the 39th annual New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning. The legendary band ("Carry On Wayward Son," "Dust in the Wind," "Point of Know Return") will perform Sunday, July 31, at 3:30pm. in association with Q104.3 at the 39th annual festival at Solberg Airport in Readington, NJ.

An Interview With Albert G. Nigrin from the New Jersey Film Festival


The New Jersey Film Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, starting with a Spring Festival that runs on select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays between January 28 and February 20, 2022. As a result of COVID, the festival will be a virtual once again this Spring. All the films will be available virtually via Video on Demand for 24 hours on their show date. Tickets are $15 per program, or $100 for Festival All Access Pass.

Rowan University’s College of Performing Arts Presents AXIS Dance Company On February 19th


(GLASSBORO, NJ) -- Rowan University’s College of Performing Arts, home of the Marie Rader Presenting Series, is thrilled to present a one-night-only performance by AXIS Dance Company, one of the nation’s most acclaimed ensembles of disabled and non-disabled performers. Founded in 1987 and based in Oakland, CA, AXIS creates powerful productions that challenge perceptions, and redefine dance and disability. As part of their national tour for 2021-22, AXIS will bring excerpts from re:surge to Rowan University’s Pfleeger Concert Hall Stage on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 8:00pm.


Centenary Stage Company Accepting Registration For Spring 2022 Dance Conservatory; Deadline Is January 24th


(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company will be offering 2 sessions, one six-week and one eight-week, of the Spring 2022 Conservatory of Dance to take place during the 2022 Spring Semester. The first session will run January 24 to March 7, and will feature Ballet I, Ballet II, Contemporary Dance, Modern I, Modern II, and Dance for Theatre. The second will run from March 14 to May 2, and will feature Modern I, Modern II, Tap I, and Tap II. The registration deadline for both classes is January 24.

The Friends for Abbott Marshlands Announces Call For Art - Voices for the Marsh Juried Photography Exhibit


(HAMILTON, NJ) -- The nonprofit Friends for the Abbott Marshlands announces a Call for Art for Voices for the Marsh, its 2022 biennial, 10th Juried Photography Exhibit. It is juried by Al Horner of New Jersey Pinelands photographic fame, and Pat Coleman, Naturalist and President of the Friends. Submissions are due by Earth Day, April 22, with the exhibition running June 5 – September 18, 2022. The venue is Tulpehaking Nature Center’s galleries at 157 Westcott Avenue in Hamilton, New Jersey.


The Visual Arts Gallery at NJCU Presents BURN: Origins & Resistance by Antoinette Ellis-Williams


(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- The Visual Arts Gallery at New Jersey City University presents BURN: Origins & Resistance by Antoinette Ellis-Williams from January 31 through March 3, 2022.This is a multi-disciplinary project which rethinks and explores the many ways black women experience “Burn” (e.g. unemployment, appropriation, dismissal, isolation, gentrification, cooptation, physical and sexual abuse, exploitation, etc.) and simultaneously their unique agency to set things on "Fiya" (aka fire) and heal.
