Prospect Theater Company Presents World Premiere of "Notes From Now"


(NEW YORK, NY) -- Prospect Theater Company will present the world premiere of Notes From Now, directed and choreographed by Billy Bustamante from March 2-20, 2022 at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street). This brand-new musical anthology, bringing together songwriters from Broadway and beyond, weaves together words and music to create a gallery of playful, provocative, and profound observations on the human journey.


The Theater Project Holds Virtual Audition Workshop For Actors 17-25


The Theater Project (TheTheaterProject.org), a leading incubator for rising talent and a showcase for New Jersey artists, is offering a four-session VIRTUAL AUDITION WORKSHOP for young actors, 17-25 years old from January 25 to February 15.  The classes are part of the company’s on-going response to the decreased number of opportunities available to actors during the current surge of Covid cases. Students are charged only $30 for the four meetings.


Bristol Riverside Theatre presents "I and You"


(BRISTOL, PA) -- Bristol Riverside Theatre kicks off the year with the local premiere of Lauren Gunderson’s mind-blowing I and You. This mysterious play about two high school students who uncover their connection to each other is directed by Gia Forakis. The show runs January 25-February 13.


Premiere Stages at Kean University Announces 2022 Bauer Boucher Playwriting Award Winners


(UNION, NJ) -- Premiere Stages, the professional theatre company in residence at Kean University, has named current Kean University student Jennifer Pillaga (Class of ’22) and alumnus Elaine Insinnia (Class of ‘68 ) as the winners of the 2022 Bauer Boucher Playwriting Awards, named for longtime donors W. John Bauer and Nancy Boucher. Both winners will receive a cash prize and a one-day developmental reading of their plays with a professional cast and director. The Bauer Boucher Student Award will be held virtually via Zoom and is free and open to the public. The Bauer Boucher Alumnus Award will be performed at Lantern Hill Senior Living.


The Princeton Triangle Club presents "Singin' In The Train"


(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Princeton Triangle Club, continuing its tradition of presenting an original musical comedy, will premiere the newest Triangle Show Singin’ in the Train at McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey this January. This riotous railroad revue, created by Princeton University’s most talented writers, composers, technicians and performers, opens Friday, January 28 at 8:00pm, and continues Saturday, January 29 at 8:00pm and Sunday, January 30 at 2:00pm.

Spotlight on Flush


Flush is a four-piece rock band from Helsinki, Finland that plays a dark blend of alternative, punk, and hard rock, with elements of pop and metal thrown into the mix. The band thinks their music will sound familiar to most listeners, but still not directly like any other band out there. New Jersey Stage spoke with Lasse for this spotlight article.


The NY Bee Gees Tribute Show Comes To Brook Arts Center On April 1st

Governor Murphy Signs Legislation Bolstering The New Jersey Film & Digital Media Tax Credit Program


(TRENTON, NJ) -- On January 12, 2022, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed legislation (S-4094/A-6070) which bolsters the New Jersey Film & Digital Media Tax Credit Program through expanded digital media production tax credits and other improvements. The program, which was first signed into law by Governor Murphy in July 2018, and first expanded in January 2020, has made New Jersey a national film and television production center and continues to attract high-profile projects to New Jersey such as West Side Story, The Equalizer, and The Many Saints of Newark.

Our Favorite Stories In Art - King For A Day


New Jersey Stage published its 25,000th story in December 2021. As the site approached the milestone, we posed the question on social media as how we should celebrate.  One response was to highlight our favorite stories from over the years.  We liked this idea, but could not narrow things down to just 25 favorites so we will present a favorite each day from different genres.  Today we are featuring one of our favorite stories in art.  It's a story about King for a Day, a book of photography featuring Elvis impersonators of all shapes and sizes.

Lewis Center for the Arts presents Poet James Longenbach on W.B. Yeats


(PRINCETON, NJ) --  On January 28, 2022 at 4:30, the Lewis Center for the Arts presents poet and literary critic James Longenbach, author of Forever and The Lyric Now, with a lecture on W.B. Yeats’ poem “Nineteen Hundred and Nineteen” on the anniversary of Yeats’ death. Longenbach will discuss how the poem assumed the shape it does, and, more importantly, the influence of that shape on subsequent long poems written throughout the 20th century and beyond. This is part of the 2021-22 Fund for Irish Studies lecture series.

Is Your Dog a Hero to You? Nominations Open for the 2022 American Humane Hero Dog Awards(R)


(WASHINGTON, DC) -- American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, has announced the official start of the 2022 American Humane Hero Dog Awards® campaign. The twelfth annual, year-long campaign seeks to identify and honor the best of our best friends and will culminate this fall with the star-studded “American Humane Hero Dog Awards” gala on November 11 in Palm Beach. The event reaches and is eagerly followed by millions of animal lovers around the world every year. In 2021, 18 dogs from New Jersey were in the running including K-9 Hansel, the 2021 Law Enforcement Hero Dog winner.
