DECADE – Neil Young Tribute

Saturday, May 11, 2024 @ 7:30pm

The Vogel
99 Monmouth Street, Red Bank, NJ 07701

The year was 1972, and Neil Young had just reached the pinnacle of his recording career with the enormous success of his seminal album “Harvest”. In typical Neil Young fashion, it did not exactly sit well.

In the often quoted hand written liner notes of Decade, Neil writes: ” ‘Heart of Gold’ put me in the middle of the road. Traveling there soon became a bore so I headed for the ditch.” Hence, the origin of the “Ditch” term. Neil’s next three albums, “Time Fades Away”, “On the Beach” and “Tonight’s the Night”, comprise what has become known as the “Ditch Trilogy”. Because of their dark and haunting brilliance, they are revered by Neil fans as the Rosetta Stone to understanding his often misunderstood artistry.

There are many tribute bands playing the music of Neil Young with widely varying precision and attention to detail. Enter Decade, led by front man and Neil channeling guitarist, vocalist, pianist and harmonica (ist?…lol) playing musician John Hathaway and his extraordinary band, who treat every performance with a reverence that is second to none.

On Saturday May 11, 2024, John and Decade will perform songs from the “Ditch Trilogy” years as well as the classic tunes that made him one of the most iconic artists of his generation. This promises to be a show unparalleled and unprecedented by any other act, and one that fans of Neil Young will never forget.

Decade is:

John Hathaway

Billy Siegel (keys, backing vocs)

Joe Napilatano (pedal steel, guitar)

Lou Perillo (bass, backing vocs)

Ken Biedzynski (drums and percussion)
