(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Asbury Park’s legendary The Stone Pony and Blackbird Presents—a worldwide leader in the production of large-scale concert events, broadcast specials, TV series, music festivals and tours— have joined forces to bring a customized one-stop-shop experience to the music lovers of Asbury Park and concert goers of The Stone Pony. The two iconic music entities are set to join forces on April 1, 2019 where Blackbird Presents’ flagship boutique in downtown Asbury Park will host a downtown satellite box office location, selling tickets to Stone Pony and Stone Pony Summer Stage concerts. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey and New Jersey Symphony Orchestra present Mary Poppins in Concert on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 3:00pm. In this special screening of the Disney classic, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra performs the score live as the film plays. At 2:00pm, there is a pre-show singalong on the second floor lobby of the State Theatre for all ticketed patrons. Tickets range from $35-$125. ... READ ON

The last five years have been a crazy time for Jersey bluesman Matt O’Ree.  He went on tour across Southeast Asia as a member of Bon Jovi in 2015 and was inducted into the NY/NJ Blues Hall of Fame the following year with Eryn Shewell. He released a record that included a guest appearance by Bruce Springsteen, headlined shows at The Stone Pony, and married Eryn forming the state’s preeminent power blues duo.... READ ON

I’ve never been much of a fan of rock music, so the whole indie rock scene of the ‘90s passed me by. While I can’t say I’ve warmed to the music that era produced, I do find myself looking back at that time with a more appreciative gaze. It was a particularly fertile time for female rockers, with the likes of PJ Harvey, Courtney Love, and  Tanya Donnelly channelling a female perspective into a musical genre that had previously been dominated by men and refusing to sexualize themselves in the way today’s female stars seem compelled to....
