Life Forms are Blooming and Breathing at ArtYard in Frenchtown

It may be the middle of winter, but two exhibitions on view at ArtYard in Frenchtown connect us to the world of plants, living things, and the lightness of being. Kendall Buster: What Blooms is on view through January 21, and Lucia Monge: While a Leaf Breathes can be seen through January 28.



Jersey Arts Podcast: Getting 'Fun & Slutty' with Jonathan Van Ness

A nonbinary hero himself, Jonathan Van Ness rose to fame as the hairstylist to heroes, the name Netflix's "Queer Eye" reboot gives to its episodic guests. But Jonathan's been an artist long before "Queer Eye." Beyond the artistry required in his work as a stylist, Jonathan has been on stage as a comedian for years. His web series "Gay of Thrones," a weekly comedic recap of HBO's "Game of Thrones," where he starred as none other than an opinionated hairstylist, was a hit for Funny or Die. He is also the host of his very own podcast, "Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness." And in addition to all of that, he is also a New York Times Best Selling author.



Newark's 36th Annual "Sing in Praise of King" to Take Place on Monday

(NEWARK, NJ) -- The City of Newark's 36th Annual "Sing in Praise of King" will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 in Newark Symphony Hall (1020 Broad Street). Doors open at 6:00pm, showtime is 7:00pm. The Department of Recreation, Cultural Affairs, and Senior Services will present this event.

The film promises to take audiences on a magical journey, transporting them from the lively streets of Mumbai to the grand stages of New York. Asbury Park Theater Company presents "Kabaret Kaput, A Surrealist Rock Kabaret"

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Asbury Park Theater Company (APTCo) is collaborating with Musician, Theater Maker and Story Teller Remember Jones who will co- produce and direct Kabaret Kaput, A Surrealist Rock Kabaret. This concert style cabaret will star Ellen Foley, Robert I. Rubinsky, and Jonathan Freeman. Kabaret Kaput will have three performances at the Jersey Shore Arts Center from April 5-7, 2024.



Stage Stars Productions to present a special NOLA inspired edition of The Starlight Jazz Show: "The Wolf Moon"

(GARWOOD, NJ) -- January 25th is the full wolf moon... and Stage Stars Productions will present a special edition of The Starlight Jazz Show, "The Wolf Moon" at Crossroads in Garwood on January 25, 2024 at 7:30pm. The audience will be transported into the night on the streets of New Orleans during the full wolf moon. MPAC Announces Free Summer Concert Lineup for 2026

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Mayo Performing Arts Center's Arts in the Community free summer concert schedule for 2026 has been announced. MPAC will present six free concerts between June and August. The lineup includes the return of three of their most popular events – Bollywood Dance Party, Country Line Dancing and Salsa at Sunset, as well as singer-songwriters, and more.

Classic American Tales' presents Tales at the Dormer House every Thursday

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 4 through October 15, 2026 (except for July 2), Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents Tales at the Dormer House in which guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories written by noteworthy authors, read by a variety of performers. The schedule is 4:00pm every Thursday at the historic Dormer House Bed and Breakfast (800 Columbia Avenue) in Cape May, NJ. Performances are on the front porch, weather permitting.

Princeton Summer Theater presents "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown"

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Summer Theater's 2026 Children's Show is You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, which runs weekends from June 20 to August 1, 2026. A beloved musical since its premiere in 1967, Clark Gesner brings Charles M. Schulz's "PEANUTS" characters to the stage. The musical ventures through the highs and lows of young life, from baseball and homework to young love and friendship. With an empathetic and whimsical eye, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown reminds us of the importance of connection and joy.

2026-27 Season Preview: Split Level Concerts at Jersey Shore Arts Center

(OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- Split Level Concerts at the Jersey Shore Arts Center (JSAC) in Ocean Grove has announced the full concert lineup for its third season. All shows will take place beginning at 8:00pm in JSAC's Palaia Theater. The season lineup includes Willie Nile, John Gorka, Dan Bern, Catie Curtis and Band, Stephen Kellogg, Abbie Gardner, Heather Maloney and Band, and Kim Richey. As they have done in prior years, artists from the Asbury Park music scene will open many of the shows.

Frank Hanavan's Hoboken is wet. In his streetscapes, surfaces glisten. The sky is rarely glowering, but it does seem full; ready to have something to say, or wrapping up something that it is busy saying.
