Grammy Award Winner Randy Brecker to Perform at NBPAC

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) welcomes world renowned jazz artist Randy Brecker for an intimate acoustic performance on September 9, 2022 at 8:00pm. Joining him onstage will be his wife, saxophonist extraordinaire Ada Rovatti. Rounding out the performance are Bill O'Connell on piano, Marco Panascia on bass, and Steve Johns on drums.



Erika Henningsen to star in "Joy the Musical" at George Street Playhouse

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse announced that Joy the Musical will star Erika Henningsen (Broadway: Mean Girls) and is directed by Casey Hushion (Broadway: Aladdin, The Prom), with choreography by Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Joshua Bergasse.  The new musical features a score by Tony Award nominee AnnMarie Milazzo, musical supervision by Andy Einhorn and a book by Tony Award winner Ken Davenport, who obtained the rights to the life of best-selling author, inventor, and self-made millionaire Joy Mangano. 



Newark to Launch Outdoor Dining Initiative

(NEWARK, NJ) -- On August 15, 2022, Mayor Ras J. Baraka announced that the City of Newark will kick off its Summer Outdoor Dining Initiative “Taste of Newark” on Sunday, August, 21 at two locations. It will continue on Sunday, September 4, and Sunday, September 18. On those three Sundays, restaurants on Ferry Street and Mulberry Street will be allowed to extend their outdoor dining into the street, from noon to 9:00pm. On these dates, these corridors will be temporarily closed off to traffic to create outdoor open dining space.



Morven awarded $500,000 National Park Service Grant for care of American Revolutionary Landmark

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Morven Museum & Garden has been awarded funds that will be used to apply a historically accurate treatment of white wash to the home-turned-museum from the Semiquincentennial Grant Program funded by the Historic Preservation Fund as administered by the National Park Service, Department of Interior. Testing of treatment methods will begin immediately to determine the safest and best application to the entire building next summer.








Fantastic Cat's National Television Debut

After packing out NYC's Bowery Ballroom for a wild album release show, Fantastic Cat made their national TV debut on CBS Saturday Morning on August 13th, swapping instruments and trading vocals as they performed three songs from their widely acclaimed debut, The Very Best Of Fantastic Cat (out now via Nashville indie Blue Rose).

Bloomfield's Sanctuary on the Green Benefit Concert

(BLOOMFIELD, NJ) -- After being closed for the better part of twelve years, Bloomfield’s historic Sanctuary at the Church on the Green will reopen to the public with a Benefit Concert on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 7:00pm.  The “Sanctuary on the Green” Benefit Concert will feature a host of local theatre, dance and musical groups as well as Broadway performers who call Bloomfield their home.



NJ Rep presents "Sister Mary's Playtime" on September 12th

(LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- New Jersey Repertory Company presents performances of Sister Mary's Playtime by Tim McArthur on September 12th at 7:00pm and 9:00pm. Sister Mary was found on the steps of St Peter's of the Sisters of the Third Removed, in the heart of London's West End. She was wrapped in a copy of the Stage Newspaper within a handbag. It is rumoured she is the secret love child of West End Musical Theatre Star, Elaine Paige. Sister Mary loves showtunes and making homemade flapjack.



10,000 Maniacs featuring Mary Ramsey Cancel Remaining Shows in 2022

(BUFFALO, NY) -- 10,000 Maniacs featuring Mary Ramsey regretfully announce the cancelation of their remaining tour dates for 2022 on their "40th Anniversary" tour due to illness in the band.  The canceled shows include: October 1, The Center for The Arts, Buffalo, NY; October 20, Belly Up, San Diego, CA; October 21, Fremont Theatre, San Luis Obispo, CA;  October 22, Bankhead Theatre, Livermore, CA; October 28, The Birchmere, Alexandria, VA; October 29, Tally Ho, Leesburg, VA; October 30, Ram's Head On Stage, Annapolis, MD; and November 10, The Vogel, Red Bank, NJ

MPAC Announces Free Summer Concert Lineup for 2026

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Mayo Performing Arts Center's Arts in the Community free summer concert schedule for 2026 has been announced. MPAC will present six free concerts between June and August. The lineup includes the return of three of their most popular events – Bollywood Dance Party, Country Line Dancing and Salsa at Sunset, as well as singer-songwriters, and more.

Classic American Tales' presents Tales at the Dormer House every Thursday

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 4 through October 15, 2026 (except for July 2), Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents Tales at the Dormer House in which guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories written by noteworthy authors, read by a variety of performers. The schedule is 4:00pm every Thursday at the historic Dormer House Bed and Breakfast (800 Columbia Avenue) in Cape May, NJ. Performances are on the front porch, weather permitting.

2026-27 Season Preview: Split Level Concerts at Jersey Shore Arts Center

(OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- Split Level Concerts at the Jersey Shore Arts Center (JSAC) in Ocean Grove has announced the full concert lineup for its third season. All shows will take place beginning at 8:00pm in JSAC's Palaia Theater. The season lineup includes Willie Nile, John Gorka, Dan Bern, Catie Curtis and Band, Stephen Kellogg, Abbie Gardner, Heather Maloney and Band, and Kim Richey. As they have done in prior years, artists from the Asbury Park music scene will open many of the shows.
