(FREEHOLD, NJ) -- Center Players is concluding its 2021-22 season with a production of Jackie Robinson Steals Home at Center Playhouse in downtown Freehold from July 8-17, 2022. The historical drama is set in 1947 at Yankee Stadium where the Yankees are playing the Brooklyn Dodgers and the newest member of the Dodgers is the first African American to play major league baseball -- Jackie Robinson. (RINGOES, NJ) -- The RVCC Foundation raised over $127,000 at the 18th Annual RVCC Foundation Golf Classic, held June 20 at the Copper Hill Country Club in Ringoes. The RVCC Foundation is the fundraising arm of Raritan Valley Community College. It provides the resources that enable the College to enhance its programs beyond public and tuition sources and to maintain its standing as a premier academic institution and one of the most important sources of culture and continuing education in Somerset and Hunterdon counties.
(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Surati for Performing Arts, the tri-state area's premier award-winning nonprofit, performed at the Freedom and Fireworks Festival on July 4th, now known as New Jersey's July 4th celebrations. The celebrations were held at Exchange Place, Jersey City on the waterfront. Hosted by Mayor Steven Fulop, The Jersey City Municipal Council, Exchange Place Alliance, and The Office of Cultural Affairs, this event was one of the largest Independence Day celebrations in the region drawing around 200,000 visitors and performances by A-list artists. This year Shaquille O’Neal (a.k.a. DJ Diesel), Funk Flex, and Flo Rida took the stage where Surati also performed.
(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- On July 12, 2022 at 1:00pm, the Town of Morristown will unveil its next piece of public art at Open Space at Speedwell located at 51 Prospect Street next to the Modera 44 and Modera 55 apartments. This piece was part of an international selection process issued in June 2018, which chose and commissioned Nathan S. Pierce of Cape Girardeau, Missouri for the project, in early 2019. After some delays due to the pandemic, the sculpture is now ready to be installed and presented to the public.
The Spring Lake Theatre Company is opening the 2022-2023 season with one of the most beloved stories of all time: Beauty and the Beast. Twelve performances take place across July 7-24. When Belle’s father is imprisoned in a mysterious castle, her attempt to rescue him leads her to be captured by the Beast, a fearsome monster long ago trapped in his gruesome form by an enchantress.
