(CRANFORD, NJ) -- The final production of CDC Theatre's 104th season, In the Heights, is currently running weekends from to May 20. The musical tells the story of three days in the vibrant community in Manhattan's Washington Heights – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.



The Newton Theatre presents Asleep At The Wheel

(NEWTON, NJ) -- The Newton Theatre presents Asleep At The Wheel on Saturday, August 12, 2023. For over fifty years, Asleep at the Wheel's Ray Benson has been traversing the globe as an ambassador of Western swing music and introducing its irresistible sound to generation after generation. More than 100 musicians have passed through the Wheel, but Benson remains the front man and the keeper of the vision, in the process racking up more than 30 albums, ten Grammy awards and literally millions of miles on the road. Doors are at 7:00pm, showtime is 8:00pm.



The Axelrod PAC Celebrates PRIDE

(DEAL PARK, NJ) -- The Axelrod Performing Arts Center is presenting New Jersey's first professional production of the laugh-out-loud musical The Prom from May 5-21. Two Broadway veterans lead this hilarious musical about the struggles of mounting a lesbian-friendly prom in the Midwest--Vicki Lewis (NewsRadio, Damn Yankees, Chicago) and John Scherer (By Jeeves, Sunset Boulevard) along with a multi-talented young cast ready to sing and dance the night away!



Atlantic Highland Arts Council presents "Empty Bowls and Community Clay Works"

(SEATTLE, WA) – Closter, NJ artist Marybeth Rothman has a June Solo Exhibition at Frederick Holmes and Company - Gallery of Modern & Contemporary Art (309 Occidental Avenue South) in Seattle, Washington as part of their Tenth Anniversary Celebration and Exhibition. The exhibition runs from June 1st through July 4, 2023.. Rothman is a critically acclaimed, contemporary artist who has been part of the Gallery's growth since 2014.



Mickey Hart to Present Artwork at Wentworth Galleries in Virginia and New Jersey

(SHORT HILLS, NJ) -- As the Dead & Company prepare for their final Farewell Tour this summer, the bands legendary percussionist, Mickey Hart, will present his newest art collection, the Art of Mickey Hart during two of the groups tour stops. Hart is scheduled to appear at the Wentworth Gallery at Tysons Galleria in McLean VA on Sunday, June 4th at 2:00pm and on Friday, June 23rd at 6:30pm at the Wentworth Gallery at Short Hills Mall in Short Hills, NJ. These two exclusive art showings will be private and intimate for patrons. Those interested in attending should contact the gallery directly for more information.

(CARTERET, NJ) -- The URSB Carteret Performing Arts & Events Center has announced the nominations and honorable mentions for the 2023 Carteret PAC Central Jersey Marquee Awards, Honoring Excellence in Middlesex County High School Musical Theatre. The Marquee Awards will take place on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 7:30pm at the new Carteret Performing Arts and Events Center.

The second episode of Lighty’s Corner is live! This is a bi-weekly recorded radio show presenting new rock music from around the globe. Each of the 15 new tracks played were received via email within the last two weeks - a practice I hope to continue each time.




"She's Like the Wind"

The first thing you'll see upon entering the gallery at Deep Space (77 Cornelison St.) is the shadow-outline of a woman's leg. There it is, on a chartreuse background, sticking straight up in the air with a curvaceous bare foot inches from the ceiling. That's all of the subject of "Lemon Lime Toe of God" that the oil painter Delilah Ray Miske is willing to show us. The rest of the body, she implies, is splayed out on a bed. We know it's summer because the window is closed and the air conditioner is plugged in. There's a pretty good chance that the possessor of the leg is undressed. In one hand, she holds a cellphone, and she might be broadcasting something. On the wall, a small whip-like broomstick hangs. It could be the ride of a tiny witch. It could be the professional tool of a dominatrix.
