(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Palesa Mazamisa’s biting satire, “Shoes and Coups,” is one of several shows in the 2nd annual Voices International Theatre Festival that look courageously and compassionately at the fractured state of the world, showing the human, psychological and spiritual tolls of systemic injustice.  Having premiered at the Market Theater in Johannesburg in 2018, “Shoes and Coups” opens the Festival, which is produced by the Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC), on Friday, October 16 in a live Zoom performance at 10:00am EST.... (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- In May of 2020, Cape May Stage launched the Virtual Lecture Series discussing and exploring nearly every facet of the theatre. On Wednesday, September 16th, Cape May Stage premiered the expansion of those discussions in the form of a new Virtual Talk-Show, Cape May Arts Today, hosted by Cape May Stage’s Producing Artistic Director Roy Steinberg. Cape May Arts Today will cover arts related topics in Cape May and around the world. (UNION, NJ) --  Premiere Stages at Kean University will present Cheryl L. West’s new play Fannie Lou Hamer, Speak On It!, directed by Marshall Jones III, at the outdoor tent at Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University in Union, New Jersey, October 15-18, 2020. Part battle cry, part spiritual, Fannie Lou Hamer, Speak On It! is a powerful and timely play, with arrangements by Felton Offard, that brings to life civil rights activist Fannie Lou as she leads a rally to fight for voting and racial equality. Her call to action was one that all Americans committed to change needed to hear in the sixties and still resonates today. The two-person Actors' Equity Association cast for Fannie Lou Hamer, Speak On It! will be announced shortly.... (RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater concludes its online benefit reading series with Shakespeare’s classic story of two young star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. This modern verse translation by Hansol Jung will be live on Wed, September 30 with Act 1. (MILLBURN, NJ) -- To aid students and parents in college selection and admittance, Paper Mill Playhouse will offer its College Discovery Seminars on September 29 and October 1 at 6:30pm to 9pm and again on October 20  and 22, 2020 at 6:30pm to 9:00pm.  Paper Mill’s College Discovery Seminars are workshops in how to navigate the college application and audition process for applicants studying musical theater.
