(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- Light Opera of New Jersey will hold auditions for "In The Heights" on Wednesday, March 4th at 7:00pm and Saturday, March 7th at 10:00am. In the Heights is a musical featuring music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes. (MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse has announced the initial casting for The Wanderer, a World Premiere Musical, which runs from May 28 through June 28. Michael Wartella (Wicked) will star as Dion alongside Christy Altomare (Anastasia) as Dion’s wife Susan and Joey McIntyre (New Kids on the Block; Waitress) as Dion’s right hand man Johnny in the musical based on the life of Rock n’ Roll Hall-of-Famer Dion DiMucci. Beginning today, January 13, the National Endowment for the Arts and the American Theatre Wing are accepting submissions to the 2020 Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge. This national contest is for high school students with a passion for writing songs that could be part of a musical theater production and the wide range of musical styles represented in contemporary musicals. (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- The Kelsey Theatre at Mercer County Community College (MCCC) in conjunction with Theater To Go continues to push the boundaries this season with the landmark musical production Cabaret. This 1966 Broadway hit, based on the short novel “Goodbye to Berlin,” harkens back to authoritarian 1930s Germany where nightlife at the smokey Kit Kat Klub offers a refuge for escapists. Decadence, sexual ambiguity and good times are the norm until a dark turn brings everything to an end. (CLIFTON, NJ) -- The Theater League of Clifton will present its 2020 dinner/theater comedy “Last Chance for Romance.com” weekends from February 15 through March 1st at Mario's Restaurant in Clifton. The two-act comedy, written by Marylou Ambrose and Tony Schwartz, tells the story about the humorous travails of senior-citizen online dating. (PAPPI) is a North Jersey-based production company founded by actress Sunflower Duran and is in the rehearsal phase for its second theater production this year.  PAPPI produces YouTube web-series Blonde Brunette, starring Sunflower Duran, as well as the music for the hip-hip group Chasing Mermaids led by the multi-talented and dynamic actress herself, Paradox, and Big Mike the Emcee.  Chasing Mermaids’ single “I Flip Thou” was played nearly 35,000 times on Spotify in just a few months. ...
