"Shakin’ the Mess Outta Misery" at Middletown Arts Center

(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) --  The Middletown Arts Center, in collaboration with the Dunbar Repertory Company, presents Shakin’ the Mess Outta Misery, a magical memory play featuring songs and stories that follow a young Black girl’s coming of age in the 1960’s South. Written by Shay Youngblood and directed by Darrell Lawrence Willis, Sr., the production begins July 9th and runs through July 18th on the MAC’s Open Air Stage.


Two River Theater Presents "Opening Act" - Summer Education Programs For 9th-12th Graders

(RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater has announced a unique and exciting summer education program for high schoolers called Opening Act. This summer program is designed for rising 9th-12th graders during the weeks of July 19-23, July 26-30 and August 2-6.



Four Walls Theater Presents "Reclamation. My story. My time." Online June 24-25

Four Walls Theater presents "Reclamation. My story. My time." - its first Cabaret style show featuring exclusively Artists of Color in two nights of celebration and representation of solo performance art. Performances will be on Thursday June 24 and Friday June 25 at 9:00pm ET live on Zoom. This production was curated by Four Walls Theater’s Artistic Director Gina Marie Dropp and returning Guest Artist, Pravin Wilkins. Sound design and composition outside of artist’s original material will be provided my M. Florian Staab. 



New York Stage and Film Announces 2021 Summer Season

(NEW YORK, NY) -- New York Stage and Film, considered “one of the preeminent incubators for theater in the country,” returns July 17-August 1 with in-person programming in Poughkeepsie for their 2021 Summer Season. In partnership with Vassar College, Marist College, and Revel 32 °, NYSAF will serve the needs of theater and film artists today, bringing them safely together in community to generate new stories and reconnect with one another and audiences.



Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre Announces Summer Programs

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre is presenting three programs this summer, which include improv, readings of one-person shows, and a cabaret. The improv show will be live-streamed from an outdoor stage, and the readings and cabaret will be outdoors with live audiences.



Broadway Musicals Return to the Shore This Summer at The Algonquin

(MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Broadway’s back in New York City this fall, but fans of musical theatre at the Jersey Shore only have to wait another month. Algonquin Arts Theatre will be producing Broadway musicals “Godspell” and “Rent” this summer.  Showtimes are Friday & Saturday nights at 8:00pm, Saturday at 2:00pm and Sundays at 3:00pm. “Godspell” runs for eight performances from July 16 to July 25. “Rent” runs from August 13 to August 22. The 2021 Summer Series is sponsored by Broadway Ray. 



"A Good Day -- songs from musicals by Eric Sirota" To Take Place July 24 In Union City

(UNION CITY, NJ) -- The Park Theatre and Write Act Repertory, under the artistic leadership of John Lant and Tamra Pica present “A Good Day – songs from musicals by Eric Sirota” on Saturday, July 24 at 2:00pm as a part of Union City’s free outdoor concert series. The performance will be at Ellsworth Park in Union City, NJ, in association with Mayor Brian Stack and the Union City Board of Commissioners, and the Alzheimer’s Association.



Playhouse 22 To Hold Auditions For Emcees

(EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Playhouse 22 will be hosting a Theater Fest ’21, free day-long outdoor in-person theater festival on Saturday, August 7 (rain date 8/14) and is hosting auditions for two people to serve as emcees. Auditions by appointment only will be held on Sunday, June 27 (from 6:00pm - 9:00pm) and Tuesday, June 29 (from 7:00pm - 9:30pm).



Pan Asian Repertory Theatre Presents NuWorks 2021 Online

(NEW YORK, NY) -- Pan Asian Repertory Theatre presents a special virtual event: NuWorks 2021, the annual experimental series of self-created work from innovative artists exploring an eclectic range of genres and techniques using poetry, text, dance and music. Featuring new works by diverse artists Annie Ngar-Lai Cheung, Shebana Coelho, Tyler Dobies, M.J. Kang, Jo Shui and Shigeko Sara Suga. NuWORKS 2021* is curated by playwrights Damon Chua (The Emperors Nightingale), Richard Chang (Citizen Wong), and Project Directors Ernest Abuba and Chongren Fan.



Theater League to Hold Auditions For "My Big Gay Italian Wedding"

(CLIFTON, NJ) -- The Theater League of Clifton will hold auditions for its dinner/theater production of “My Big Gay Italian Wedding” on June 22 and 23 from 7:00pm to 9:30pm at Mario’s Restaurant (710 Van Houten Ave) in Clifton. Call backs are slated for June 24 from 7:00pm to 9:30pm, if necessary.
