(NEW YORK, NY) -- Vanguard Theater Company will present “A Little Princess” for four performances in New York at the TBG Studio Theatre.  Performances are May 10 - 12, with shows on Friday at 8:00pm, Saturday at 2:00pm and 8:00pm, and Sunday at 2:00pm. Written by Tony-nominated composer/lyricist, Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), and Brian Crawley (Violet), A Little Princess is based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, which was honored by School Library Journal as one of the "Top 100 Chapter Books" of all time. ... (TRENTON, NJ) -- Passage Theatre Company, Trenton’s Barrymore Award-winning professional theatre company, will close its season with Erlina Ortiz’s play Morir Sonyando from May 2-19. The production marks Artistic Director C. Ryanne Domingues’s directorial debut at Passage. In the play, Genesis left her past behind long ago. But her mother’s release from prison forces them both to confront long-buried pain – and to wonder if they can ever become a family again. (OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- The Axelrod Performing Arts Center’s Rising Stars youth performing arts program will celebrate the 80th Anniversary of MGM’s classic, “The Wizard of Oz,” with six performances in May. Based on the beloved novel by L. Frank Baum and featuring songs by Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg, the technicolor film first premiered at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on August 15, 1939. Starring Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr, Billie Burke, and Margaret Hamilton, the movie musical opened to critical acclaim and achieved legendary status through decades of annually televised broadcasts.... (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Daniel Krane, artistic director of Princeton Summer Theater, has announced the organization’s 2019 season, which will run from June 20-August 18 and consist of four mainstage productions, as well as the world premiere of a new children’s play. Founded in 1968, Princeton Summer Theater is a semi-professional summer stock theater company located in Princeton University’s Hamilton-Murray Theater.  This season marks the theater's 50th anniversary.... (RAHWAY, NJ) -- God Help Us!, a play ripped straight from today's headlines, starring the legendary Ed Asner comes to the Union County Performing Arts Center’s Main Stage on Sunday, May 12 at 3:00pm.  In the play, two pundits, Larry (a liberal) and Randi (a conservative), played by local actors Dave Sussman and Kristine Stringer, find themselves confronted by GOD played by Asner, a wise, sarcastic, cantankerous and wildly funny character who is offended by what America's political leaders have done to America.  God has brought Randi and Larry to Purgatory for a lively debate about the issues of our time.
