Centenary Stage Company's Production of "A Christmas Carol" Continues With Livestream Added On December 6th

(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company rings in the Holiday season with a brand-new adaptation of Charles Dicken’s classic A Christmas Carol by Stephen Temperley.  In-person live performances continue December 2 through December 13 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center.   CSC will also host a special talkback with playwright Stephen Temperley and the creative team on Sunday, December 6 after the 2:00pm performance.


Vanguard Theater Company Seeks to Train the Next Generation of Off Stage Professionals

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- “How can we help level the playing field for a new generation of diverse, behind-the-scenes, creative, technical and production theater workers?” Vanguard Theater Company Artistic Director and Co-Founder Janeece Freeman Clark asked herself this question when COVID-19 forced Vanguard to cancel its in person theater programs, and the Broadway shutdown and reinvigoration of Black Lives Matter caused many theater professionals to take a long, hard look at the theater industry.  



Skyline’s 2020 Holiday Concert To Take Place On Sunday

(BERGEN COUNTY, NJ) -- Skyline Theatre Company will livestream its annual holiday production on Sunday, December 6 at 7:00pm ET on Skyline’s Facebook page. “Skyline’s 2020 Holiday Concert” will feature Broadway and international vocalist veterans Michele McConnell and Duane McDevitt performing holiday tunes live from Skyline’s stage in Bergen County’s Fair Lawn, accompanied by Jerry Steichen.

Hudson Theatre Works continues its Virtual Festival with new work appearing every Wednesday at 6:00pm on the theatre company's YouTube Channel and Thursday on their Instagram account.  Donations to various organizations will be listed.



George Street Playhouse to participate in Healing Voices: Caregiving Stories

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse will once again participate in “Healing Voices: Caregiver Stories” a program of the New Jersey Theater Alliance.  New Jersey professional and family caregivers, as well as patients receiving care, were asked to submit creative prose, poetry and theatrical pieces that reflect the theme of caregiving or the personal healing experience.  The selected Playwrights then attended workshops to further develop the pieces.  George Street Playhouse conducted two virtual writing workshops in May to support the writers’ development of their work.  



One-Man Version Of "A Christmas Carol" Comes To Algonquin Arts Theatre

(MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Charles Dickens' classic seasonal story A Christmas Carol returns to the Algonquin stage in a one-man production with six performances between December 11-20. In the spirit readings performed by Dickens himself and many subsequent single-actor performances, actor Jan Topoleski will bring the beloved Christmas tale to life.



South Camden Theatre Company Offers Stream Of "The Mountaintop" by Katori Hall

(CAMDEN, NJ) -- The South Camden Theatre Company presents a streaming video production of the staged-reading of Katori Hall's The Mountaintop. The play is a gripping reimagination of events the night before the assassination of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968. The production stars Eric Carter and Wendi Smith.  Ms. Connie Norwood directs. It will be available for two weekends (December 4-6 or December 11-13).  Viewers purchase streaming rights for a 48-hour viewing timeframe.



The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey Launches Pandemic Playhouse Entertainment

(FLORHAM PARK, NJ) -- Following the success of The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s (STNJ) live performances this summer and fall at its Back Yard Stage, a new venue they designed to be as pandemic-proof as possible, the company is now turning to the creation of digital content for their audiences for the colder winter months. Artistic Director, Bonnie J. Monte has announced an exciting “everything old is new again” take on the company’s upcoming online programming initiative, called Pandemic Playhouse Entertainment (PPE). This new ambitious project will hopefully launch before the end of 2020, in time for the holiday week leading up to New Year’s.  



Paper Mill Playhouse Is Accepting Registrations For 2021 Rising Star Awards

(MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse is now accepting registrations for the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theater Presented by the Investors Foundation. Since their inception in 1996, the Rising Star Awards have ignited the careers of many notable performers including Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables), Tony Award winners Laura Benanti (Gypsy) and Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon), Tony nominee Rob McClure (Chaplin), Shanice Williams, star of NBC’s The Wiz Live!, and Olivier Award nominee Jared Gertner (The Book of Mormon).
