Somerset County to Host Special Art Exhibit in Celebration of Open Space Preservation Program

(SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ) -- A new lineup of artwork, which depicts the open space and landscapes of 12 Somerset County parks, will soon be on display in the Somerset County Administration Building at 20 Grove Street, Somerville, NJ. The art exhibit will run from October 17 to December 31, 2025, and features over 30 New Jersey artists who have worked to showcase the vast diversity that exists within the 15,000 acres of preserved open space in Somerset County.

How many animals are nesting in your vicinity? I don't mean pets, necessarily, although you might have a few of those at your feet. I mean plushies, statuettes, depictions of critters, sketches and drawings of fauna charismatic and humble. Though we live in the city, many of us dwell by choice in private bestiaries. Even as we put up walls to keep the outdoors at bay, we invite representations of the feral world into our sanctuary.



Bergen County presents Art in the Park on Saturday

(PARAMUS, NJ) -- Bergen County presents the 61st Annual Art in the Park, a free outdoor art exhibit and concert that showcases the vibrant and diverse artistic talent across the region. The event will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 11:00am to 3:30pm at Van Saun County Park in Paramus.

I don't know how apocryphal it was, but I used to hear the informal designations all the time. Newark, I was told, was the place to get a kilo. Hence its nickname: Brick City. If you had a beef, you might take it up in infamous Illtown, properly known as East Orange. But people didn't fight in Jersey City. This town was considered gang truce territory, and this was the secret meaning behind our not-so-secret handle. Our nickname was Chilltown. We even had a Chilltown Magazine. I wrote for it.



Trenton City Museum Announces Series of Exhibitions to Celebrate Mel Leipzig at 90

(TRENTON, NJ) -- Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie announces "Mel at 90," a series of exhibitions at the museum and invited partner sites to celebrate iconic artist Mel Leipzig's 90 years. Leipzig has been a mentor, teacher, catalyst, and keystone in the greater Trenton arts community since his arrival here in 1968. Leading off the series is "The Revival of Realism," which will be on view from October 24 through January 4, 2026.



The Gallery at Hillside Square presents "Memory in Form"

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- The Gallery at Hillside Square presents Memory in Form, a solo exhibition by Leslie Adler, a mid-career visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores the intersection of natural systems, built structures, and the intuitive mind. The show runs through December 12, 2025 and features Adler's latest series of mono prints created through block-printing techniques, which evoke ethereal visions of abandoned places and quiet moments suspended in time.



Senior Artists Showcase Excellence at 59th NJ Senior Citizen Art Show

(EAST WINDSOR, NJ) -- The 59th Annual New Jersey Senior Citizen Art Show opened on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Meadow Lakes Senior Living (300 Meadow Lakes) in East Windsor. The exhibition will remain open to the public through Thursday, November 6, 2025.
