White Eagle Hall Shows in September 2023

originally published: 09/07/2023

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- White Eagle Hall continues an exciting and diverse schedule of events for Jersey City and all of its surrounding areas. Originally constructed in 1910 and reopened in 2017 after a multi-year, multi-million-dollar renovation, the 800-person capacity music venue in Jersey City currently has ten shows scheduled this month. The Jersey City landmark remains a major hub of entertainment for everyone, delivering a diversified selection of shows.

Over the month of September, programming includes Louisville indie-Americana band Murder By Death, Fred Armisen’s “Comedy For Musicians But Everyone is Welcome,” Indian classical-meets-rock group Agam, Detroit garage rock trio The Gories, South Korean boy band KINGDOM, indie rock mainstays The Hold Steady, family concert series Rock and Roll Playhouse performing the music of Taylor Swift, Conner O'Malley’s “Research and Development” comedy show, all-girl Led Zeppelin tribute act Lez Zeppelin, and Juno-award winning rock band Arkells.

Upcoming Shows:

9/9/2023 - Murder By Death: As trailblazers of the early 2000s indie-Americana style, the Louisville, KY-based quintet Murder By Death finds a way of taking tried & true rock-and-roll and knocking it slightly off axis, into tottering revolutions of something eerie, emotional, immediate, lush, and uniquely theirs.

9/14/2023 - Fred Armisen: Comedy For Musicians But Everyone is Welcome: Comedy For Musicians But Everyone Is Welcome features Fred Armisen in all of his funniest, raw, pure glory. Featuring Armisen’s thoughts and observations with spot-on impersonations, this show is especially geared towards people who are musically inclined, with many inside jokes for musicians embedded in the content.

9/15/2023 - Agam: Agam's music imbibes the soul and timbre of Indian classical music, with a tasteful tinge of Progressive Rock that creates a beautiful tapestry of melodies, rhythm structures, and time signatures. Among the front-runners of the Indian classical-meets-metal-meets-rock genre, Agam reiterates the abiding influence of our root sounds.

9/16/2023 - The Gories: The Gories are an American garage rock trio that formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1986. They were among the first 1980s garage rock bands to incorporate overt blues influences. The band features Mick Collins (of The Dirtbombs), Dan Kroha (later of the now defunct The Demolition Doll Rods) on guitar and vocals, and Peggy O’Neill on drums.

9/17/2023 - KINGDOM: South Korean boy band KINGDOM brings their first ever North American Tour to White Eagle Hall on Sunday, September 17th. The K-pop group includes seven members Dann, Arthur, Mujin, Louis, Ivan, Jahan, and Hwon.

9/20/2023 - Candlelight: Vivaldi’s Four Seasons & More: Candlelight concerts bring the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience to awe-inspiring locations like never seen before in Jersey City.

9/22/2023 - The Hold Steady: Formed in 2003, The Hold Steady have released eight albums, numerous singles and have played over a thousand shows. The band returns to Jersey City for their third White Eagle Hall show.

9/24/2023 - Rock and Roll Playhouse: Rock and Roll Playhouse is coming to White Eagle Hall to perform the music of Taylor Swift! The family concert series offers its core audience of families with children aged ten and under games, movement, stories and an opportunity to rock out in an effort to educate children and explore their creativity.

9/28/2023 - Conner O'Malley: Research and Development: Conner O’Malley has written for HBO’s How to with John Wilson and Joe Pera Talks with You. He has acted on TV shows like I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson and Detroiters.

9/29/2023 - Lez Zeppelin: Founded in 2004 by New York guitarist, Steph Paynes, the all-girl quartet, LEZ ZEPPELIN, has since gained unanimous critical acclaim as one of the most exciting live acts around, becoming the first female rock act to pay homage to Led Zeppelin and to garner rave reviews across the board.

9/30/2023 - Arkells: Hailed by The Globe and Mail as “the right kind of band for this decade,” Arkells are widely considered one of the most passionate, exuberant and in-demand live bands working today. They are the 2023 recipients of the JUNO Award for “Group of the Year”– making them the most decorated act in the category, having won the honour more than any other group.  As radio mainstays, sports-sync shoe-ins and curious students of culture, Arkells have remained ever present – building awareness and personal community experiences around their live shows and albums at every turn. The band’s most recognizable material aims to be spirited and anthemic, and there’s been no shortage of new music from Arkells over the last few years - having released their Blink Once and Blink Twice projects, featuring collaborations with the likes of Cold War Kids, K.Flay, Tegan and Sara, Aly & AJ and Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers - ahead of the introduction to their brand-new album, Laundry Pile, due this fall.
