West Windsor Arts Vocal Powerhouse Sofijazz

originally published: 05/04/2025

(PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ) -- West Windsor Arts is proud to present an unforgettable evening of music with Sofijazz (Sofija Knezevic), the internationally acclaimed vocalist, composer and rising star of the jazz world. On Friday, May 16, 2025, from 7:30pm to 9:00pm, Sofijazz will perform selections from her brand-new album "Silk"—live, for one of the first times—offering audiences an exclusive experience of this transformative work that tells the story of the singer's journey as an immigrant.

“This is going to be a really special show. Sofijazz’s team, based in New York, actually reached out to us. We are so thrilled that they did, and also grateful that we can be a space for a variety of music and other live performances. It’s wonderful to experience live music in a small, intimate venue,” says Aylin Green, executive director of West Windsor Arts.

This concert marks one of the first public performances of “Silk,” an album that blends original jazz compositions with reimagined melodies dating back to the 14th century. With elegance, emotion and intricate musicality, the album boasts a title that reflects its character—smooth, strong and richly woven.

“This is a great show for anyone who likes to listen to singers,” says Sofijazz, hailed by The New York Times as “one of the most significant singers in jazz today.” She adds, “I hope to see people of all ages, including youth, in the audience. I am an educator and love bringing young people onto the stage with me.

“Right now a lot of people are interested in buying LPs for the quality of music. Some of the best-produced work is jazz.”

Following the concert, there will be a meet-and-greet and album signing, giving attendees a chance to connect with Sofijazz and learn more about her creative process. “We’re also hoping to elevate the experience by creating some music between the audience and the band,” she adds. “This is about more than performance—it’s about connection through sound.”
