(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Princeton Folk Music Society presents Anne Hills, one of contemporary folk music's premier vocalists, on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Christ Congregation Church in Princeton. In addition to her marvelous voice and inspired song writing, Hills accompanies herself with skill on guitar and banjo. An Anne Hills concert always includes unforgettable material and original, heartfelt songs. Showtime is 8:00pm.
A veteran of the Chicago folk scene of the 1980s, Anne Hills has contributed to tribute albums for Pete Seeger and Phil Ochs. Her discography includes solo albums and duo albums with David Roth, Cindy Mangsen and Michael Smith, and trio albums with Mangsen and Priscilla Herdman. As a singer, actress, writer, and musician Anne Hills has continuously built a reputation of merit. She has worked with many well-known performers, including Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, The Roches, Ani DiFranco and The Indigo Girls, Recently, she collaborated with multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger Jay Ansill in creating “Fragile Gifts,” an album supported by a full orchestra that fuses poetry, folk music and classical music.
Anne continues to touch the heart with a poet’s evocative palette and a singer’s love of melody in her own compositions, which cover such diverse subjects as the Civil War, alcoholism, a yard’s winter dreams, and exiled refugees. After several years of performing in the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad Summer Concerts in Colorado, she released “Tracks,” an album devoted to songs of the railroads. During her career, she has received numerous honors and awards including the 2012 Posi Music Award in Social Justice, and the 2009 Pennsylvania Partner’s in the Arts Project Stream grant award. Previously, she was awarded grants for “The Heartsongs of Opal Whiteley” and “An Evening of James Whitcomb Riley.”
“Anne Hills is such an exquisite singer that it’s understandable that people might be swept up in the pure beauty of her voice and thereby overlook her writing. That would be a mistake. For me, Anne’s writing, in songs like ‘Follow That Road’ and many others, is as direct, melodic and deep as any work being done today. She is quite simply one of my absolute favorite songwriters.” — Tom Paxton
