(MILLBURN, NJ) -- The Gallery at Green Door Studio presents Life Lines, a group show featuring SOMA Figure Drawing Artists in June with an Opening Reception on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

The artists of SOMA Figure Drawing come together twice a month to practice, study, inspire, and collaborate around the human form. Figure drawing entails a live model, and a combination of timed segments, in which artists are challenged to make their renderings within 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes and eventually spend time on longer 20 minute segments. With a new model each week, the opportunity to expand and appreciate the lines and details are celebrated.

The artists work to capture the essence of the model; the model bringing unique poses, and the moderator keeping track of the time.  Very much like the integral coursework in any fine arts education, SOMA Figure Drawing lays the foundation for budding artists, as well as providing the necessary practice and fine tuning for professional artists and those returning to art after many years. In between timed segments artists share their work, discuss the strengths and challenges they faced with the previous poses, and build on their technique together. It is a community.

Life Lines is a collection of the work created by the SOMA Figure Drawing community! The show features the use of charcoal, water color, pencil, digital interpretations and more. It brings together a group of artists with varying experiences in the art world, and artists of all ages.

This exhibit is free, and it is open to all ages. The work on display is for sale.
