Spotlight Players presents "Once Upon a One More Time"

originally published: 02/13/2026

(MATAWAN, NJ) -- Spotlight Players is thrilled (and yes, just a little smug) to present the NJ community theatre premiere of Once Upon a One More Time, a glitter-drenched, pop-powered fairy tale remix that proves there's more than one way to live happily ever after. Performances run across two weekends from March 13-22, 2026. This is a jukebox musical based on songs popularized by Britney Spears and Book by Jon Hartmere.

Think princesses with opinions, princes having mild existential crises, and a fairy godmother who absolutely chose chaos. If you're thinking "this sounds stronger than yesterday's fairy tales," you're already getting it.

Powered by the iconic hits of Britney Spears, this show is a full-on musical dance party wrapped in a storybook glow. From moments that feel lucky to scenes that make you want to shout "gimme, gimme more," the music doesn't just soundtrack the story, it is the story. It's funny, heartfelt, and unapologetically joyful, with just enough sparkle to make you feel like you stepped into a pop concert that accidentally wandered into a fairy tale.

Performances take place Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00pm and Sunday matinees at 3:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online. First Presbyterian Church of Matawan is located at 883 NJ-34 in Matawan, New Jersey.

The production is Directed by Lizzy Stefanic; Choreographed by Emily Rosano; with Musical Direction by Nick Koval. The show is produced by Joe and Becky Zehnder.
