Prototype 237 presents LKFFCT, Blanket Approval, and Night Gallery on Friday

originally published: 06/19/2023

(PATERSON, NJ) -- Prototype 237 presents LKFFCT, Blanket Approval, and Night Gallery in concert on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 8:00pm. Prototype 237 is an artist-built, artist-run performance space created to provide a forum for artists to sound and play their best, and grow a performance-driven community. They will celebrate their 3 year anniversary on September 30, 2023.

LKFFCT: Formed in 2012 in Essex County, NJ. They were called Lake Effect but a bluegrass band from Illinois threatened them with legal action. Now called LKFFCT, the disemvoweling never really made sense, but nothing ever does.

Blanket Approval is a 4-piece groovy indie rock band from New York City. They formed in 2021 when lead singer Jack Matteucci took a collection of demos recorded in the basement of his physics lab and moved to Brooklyn, quickly meeting drummer/singer Joey Hadden. The two were joined by bassist Max Mena after they collided in the crowd of a punk show at the Windjammer, and later by keyboardist/guitarist Rahul Chakraborty as he answered an ad on Craigslist. The band has played all throughout New York City, including venues such as Mercury Lounge, Our Wicked Lady, and Union Pool. To date they’ve released 6 singles, and 2023 will see the release a new single each month, and an EP in the summer. Their sound is a blend of hard rock blended with tight melodies and groovy bass lines, drawing from influences such as Iggy Pop, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Parcels.

Night Gallery: The time traveling trio brings post-punk back to the 21st century. Neither strictly punk, nor pop, and not rock, Night Gallery’s eclectic DIY style craftily blends the energy of a punk inspired soundtrack with the most electrifying elements of 80s dance music. Ben Nelson’s cracked vocals call out like the punchy warbles of Joy Division’s own Ian Curtis.
