NJPAC Hosts 90s All Star Dance Party

(NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents a spectacular night of Freestyle, it’s a 90s All Star Dance Party with hitmakers Brenda K. Starr, Robin S, Cece Peniston, Black Sheep, George Lamond, Lisette Melendez, Aly-Us, Nardo Ranks, Marshall Jefferson, Strafe, and Rochelle Fleming -all are taking to the stage to perform their hits on Saturday, March 19 at 8:00pm.

It is time to get out and dance to some of the biggest hit songs of the 90's- Robin S. (“Show Me Love”),Brenda K. Starr (“I Still Believe”) CeCe Peniston (“Finally”), and Black Sheep (“Flavor of the Month”) and much more.

Robin S - Robin Stone, better known by her stage name Robin S., is an American house music singer and songwriter, who scored success in the 1990s with such hit singles as “Show Me Love” and “Luv 4 Luv”. She has had three number ones on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart.

Brenda K. Starr became one of the biggest names in freestyle music during the 1980s. Scoring a number one hit single with her song “I Still Believe”.

CeCe Peniston scored five #1 hits on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play in the ‘90s. Her signature song “Finally” reached the number 5 spot on the Hot 100.

Black Sheep - The hip hop duo from Queens, composed of Andres “Dres” Vargas Titus and William “Mista Lawnge” McLean, debuted in 1991 with the hit song “Flavor of the Month” and later released the album A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing.

George Lamond began singing back-up for his cousin Joey Kid in the Bronx, teaming up later as Loose Touch. His solo debut was “Bad of the Heart” (1990) which earned him a deal with Columbia. The LP Bad of the Heart yielded two more freestyle hits, “Without You” and “Look into My Eyes.” In 1992, he released his second album, In My Life which included the high-charting single “Where Does That Leave Love.” Lamond also became a Latin superstar when his first Latin single “Si Tu Te Vas” quickly reached the top of the charts. And in 2008, his remix of the classic Journey song “Don’t Stop Believin’” became a big pop hit.

Lisette Melendez - The American freestyle/Latin pop/dance-pop singer is best known for her 1991 hits “Together Forever,” #35 at the Billboard Hot 100, and “A Day In My Life.”

Aly-Us - The New Jersey house music group was active starting in the early ‘90s. Their most famous record was “Follow Me” from 1992.

Nardo Ranks - The Jamaican artist blends his dancehall style with socially conscious lyrics in popular songs including “Victim of the Ghetto,” “Unwanted,” “Hush Baby Mother”.

Marshall Jefferson - Working in the house music subgenres of Chicago house and deep house, his influential 1986 single “Move Your Body” was the first house song to use the piano.

Strafe - The old-school hip hop group gained popularity in the mid-’80s and is best known for its single “Set It Off” which has been extensively sampled by hip-hop, house, techno, and EDM artists.

Rochelle Fleming - The lead singer of First Choice has one of the most distinctive and enduring voices of the disco era. In the ’90s, she recorded “Danger!” and “Suffer the Consequences.”
