New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning presents Fitz and the Tantrums

originally published: 03/28/2023

(READINGTON, NJ) -- Multi-platinum artists Fitz and The Tantrums have energized popular music and culture with a series of unshakable, undeniable, and ubiquitous anthems and albums. Their blend of "soul-influenced indie pop" will soon fill the air at the New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning. Since 2008, the Los Angeles collective have magnified the scope of pop with a dash of indie, a dose of soul, and a whole lot of dancefloor-ready bounce.  The band will perform at the Festival Sunday afternoon, July 30, at Solberg Airport in Readington, NJ.

Their catalog spans fan favorite records such as Pickin’ up the Pieces, More Than Just A Dream, the gold-certified Fitz and The Tantrums, and All the Feels. Along the way, they’ve impressively tallied just shy of 4 billion streams and counting powered by enduring hits such as the triple-platinum “HandClap,” platinum “Out of My League” and “The Walker,” and gold “Moneygrabber.”

As an inescapable presence, their music has notably coursed through the mainstream conversation, soundtracking films on Netflix and campaigns for CVS Wellness, Sunchips, Sofi, Xfinity, Walmart, Norwegian Cruise Line, Lays, and Wells Fargo, to name a few. Beyond standout performances everywhere from Coachella and Bonaroo to numerous late-night television shows, they’ve consistently sold out some of the most iconic venues in the world, including The Forum and Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

Patrons who follow the Festival on social media (#njballoonfest) can receive a special pre-sale code for advance ticket purchases on Wednesday, March 29, beginning at 10:00am. Tickets to the general public go on sale Friday, March 31 at 10:00am at www.balloonfestival.com.

Comprised of Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick (vocals), Noelle Scaggs (vocals), James King (saxophone, flute), Jeremy Ruzumna (keyboards), and Joseph Karnes (bass), Fitz and The Tantrums continue to once again leap forward with their bold, bright, and buoyant single, “Sway.”

They’ll close out the balloon festival’s three-day live concert series that features KC and the Sunshine Band, Everclear and Lit, and best-selling children’s recording artist Laurie Berkner.

“We’re proud to feature such a diverse group of artists as we celebrate 40 years of the magic of ballooning and the magic that live concerts have in bringing people together,” said Festival Executive Producer Howard Freeman. “It’s the songs that people recognize and enjoy as soon as they hear them, and the music that people want to dance to.”

The New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning is the largest summertime hot air balloon and music festival in North America. The three-day Festival from July 28-29-30 features the awe-inspiring spectacle of up to 100 balloons taking flight twice each day, headlining concerts, a nighttime hot air balloon glow, the New Jersey Lottery Land members-only VIP club lounge and entertainment complex, and family entertainment, in a safe, outdoor environment spread across Solberg Airport’s 744 acres.
