
(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants of course! Now he’s riding the wave to Music Mountain Theatre in this hilarious original musical, based on the TV series by Stephen Hillenburg. When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble town, SpongeBob and his friends unite to save their undersea world. Music Mountain Theatre's production of The SpongeBob Musical is a limited engagement of 15 performances only from July 11 through August 3, 2025 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, Saturdays and Sundays at 3:00pm. The musical features a book by Kyle Jarrow, concept by Tina Landau, and original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler & Joe Perry, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! at the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants, and T.I., with additional songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny & Andy Haley, additional lyrics by Jonathan Coulton, and additional music by Tom Kitt.
MMT’s production has direction by Molly Chase, choreography by Kimberly Mertz, music direction by Meagan Hodson, costume design by Jordan Brennan, lighting design by Jared Williams, and set design by McAfee Madding. The cast includes Patrick Mertz (SpongeBob), Alison McMullen (Sandy), Michael Hall (Patrick), Wyatt Kim (Squidward), Alexander Minter (Mr. Krabs), Michael Gearty (Plankton), Theresa M. Smith (Karen), Katie Dina (Pearl), Jenn Hsiao (Mayor), Mike Prikril (Patchy), Shawn Ritzheimer (Larry), Regina Mercadante (Mrs. Puff), and Jonathan Wierzbicki (Old Man Jenkins).
The ensemble includes Alicia Alaimo, Cyrus Carter, Lauren Donahoe, Aniela Erwin, Cody Erwin, Lauren Gregorovic, Brianna Kane, Nicholas Kianka, Tyler Pelton, Liam Potter, Gavin Prikril, Katie Prikril, Zoe Prikril, Amanda Romig, Nora Bella Stern-Kushnier, Penelope Stern-Kushnier, Megan Wash, Samantha Whiteman, and Gemini Zajac.
In addition to mainstage productions, MMT offers young audience shows throughout the year. The current show is Louis Palena’s Beauty and the Beast from July 11-12, followed by Little Red Riding Hood from July 18-26, and then Disney’s Moana Jr. from August 1-16. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 11:00am and 1:00pm, and tickets are just $12.
