(ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- First Avenue Playhouse presents On Golden Pond weekends throughout July with opening night on July 8, 2023. The play by Ernest Thompson is a classic and poignant family story that is both humorous and touching. Armand Marino directs the production.
The plot focuses on aging couple Ethel and Norman Thayer, who spend each summer at their home on a lake called Golden Pond. During the year the story takes place, they are visited by daughter Chelsea with her fiancé Billy Ray and his son Billy Ray Jr. The play explores the often turbulent relationship the young woman shared with her father growing up, and the difficulties faced by a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage.
The cast includes Dave Harris, Grace Emley, Bob Mira, Ruth Rocky, Johnny Saiz III, and Carl Hoffman.
Performances take place Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm; Sunday matinees (July 16 and July 23). Tickets are $25; $20 for seniors/students on Fridays and Sundays. Admission includes dessert. Call the box office (732)291-7552 for reservations.
First Avenue Playhouse is located at 123 First Avenue in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. It is one of the oldest continuously running community theatres in Monmouth County.
