Saturday, January 13 - State Theatre New Jersey Presents Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood LIVE! King for a Day!. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE! King for a Day! on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 2:00pm. The live theatrical production is filled with music, dancing, and wonderful surprises that will warm the hearts of preschoolers, parents, and grandparents alike. Tickets range from $25-$75.

Friday, January 12 - Scottish Rite Auditorium presents Marshall Charloff & The Purple Xperience. (COLLINGSWOOD, NJ) -- Scottish Rite Auditorium presents Marshall Charloff & The Purple Xperience on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 8:00pm. This is the most celebrated tribute to Prince in the world. The group was co-founded by Marshall and Matt "Doctor" Fink (keyboardist from Prince & The Revolution) in 2011, an era where Prince closely monitored the use of his art. Their vision was to deliver Prince's music on the highest level, played live and untracked by skilled musicians while paying respectful visual homage through costuming and likeness.

Friday, January 12 - New Jersey Symphony Presents Augustin Hadelich Performing Beethoven's Violin Concerto. (NEWARK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Symphony presents one of the foremost concert violinists in the world, Augustin Hadelich, in three performances with Music Director Xian Zhang conducting. Hadelich performs Friday, January 12, 2024, at 8:00pm in Richardson Auditorium in Princeton; Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 8:00pm at Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank; and Sunday, January 14, 2024, at 3:00pm at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.

Saturday, January 13 - NJPAC presents Stephanie Mills with The Whispers. (NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) welcomes the return of Stephanie Mills with legendary hitmakers, The Whispers performing in Newark on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 8:00pm. The awe-inspiring Stephanie Mills (original star of The Wiz) performs R&B hits from an illustrious 35-year career in a soul-stirring evening with The Whispers. Part of NJPAC's annual celebration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Saturday, January 13 - Symphony in C Presents Bruch's Violin Concerto featuring William Hagen. (CAMDEN, NJ) -- New Jersey-based young professionals orchestra Symphony in C presents violinist William Hagen in Bruch's Violin Concerto on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts's Gordon Theater. The concert includes a performance of Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1, Op. 26 in G minor, Beethoven's Symphony No. 4, Op. 60 in B-flat major and Jessie Montgomery's Records from a Vanishing City led by Symphony in C's Music Director, Noam Aviel. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Saturday, January 13 - Opera Superstar Anthony Roth Costanzo and More with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra in 2024. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- In the new year, Metropolitan Opera star, GRAMMYat Award winner, and Princeton University alum Anthony Roth Costanzo headlines the first concerts of the year for the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO). Performances take place Saturday, January 13 at 8:00pm and Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 4:00pm at Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall at Princeton University.

Saturday, January 13 - Centenary Stage Company presents Jumaane Smith. (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company's Winter Thaw Festival of concerts kicks off 2024 with a performance by Jumaane Smith in his show titled: "Louis! Louis! Louis!" on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 8:00pm. The concert will take place at CSC's Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center (715 Grand Avenue) in Hackettstown, NJ.

Playhouse 22 presents "Eleemosynary" by Lee Blessing. (EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Playhouse 22 presents Eleemosynary, a play by Lee Blessing, across two weekends from January 6-14, 2024. The play probes into the delicate relationship of three singular women: a strong-willed eccentric grandmother; her brilliant daughter, who has fled the stifling domination of her mother; and her granddaughter – a child of exceptional intellect.

Theatre 68 presents "I'm Not a Comedian... I'm Lenny Bruce" at NBPAC. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Theatre 68 presents I'm Not a Comedian... I'm Lenny Bruce at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) January 11-13, 2024 with performances each night at 8:00pm. Written by and Starring critically acclaimed actor Ronnie Marmo, with the blessings of Kitty Bruce (daughter of the late Lenny Bruce), along with the Lenny Bruce Foundation. Kelsey Theatre and Tomato Patch Workshops Presents "Legally Blonde The Musical JR.". (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Harvard's favorite blonde will be center stage in the fun, upbeat production of Legally Blonde The Musical JR., presented by Tomato Patch Workshops at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre, January 12-14, 2024. Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the smash hit motion picture, this is a fabulously fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons. The show's instantly recognizable songs are filled with humor, wit and sass — leaving cast members and audiences alike seeing pink!

Music Mountain Theatre presents "Lend Me a Tenor". (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre opens their 2024 season with the Tony award winning comedy, Lend Me a Tenor, weekends from January 12-28, 2024. The play is set in September of 1934 and we see the Cleveland Grand Opera Company's gala season opener, centered on world-famous tenor Tito Morelli, performing as Canio in "Pagliacci," his greatest role. But the opera is jeopardized when Morelli falls into a drunken stupor.

Westfield Community Players Presents "God Of Carnage". (WESTFIELD, NJ) -- The Westfield Community Players presents "God of Carnage", a dark comedy with five performances from January 13-27, 2024. After an altercation between two young boys results in an injury, the two sets of parents get together with the objective to discuss and resolve the incident in a civilized manner. As the evening progresses, however, the parents become more childish, the "civilized" meeting devolves into utter chaos.

Old Library Theatre to Open the 2024 Season with "Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play". (FAIR LAWN, NJ) -- Old Library Theatre (OLT), Fair Lawn Recreation Department's resident theatre company, will present Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play, for two performances – Saturday, January 13th at 7:00pm, and Sunday, January 14th at 2:00pm. Written by Joe Landry, this takes three early films directed by Alfred Hitchcock and presents them as a 1940s radio broadcast.

WHATCo to Hold Auditions for "Deadly Dessert Championship". (WEST HUDSON, NJ) -- The West Hudson Arts & Theater Co (WHATCo) will host open auditions for its annual dinner theater fundraiser, Deadly Dessert Championship, an original murder mystery written and directed by local award-winning playwright, author, and WHATCo Board Member Allyssa Hynes. Auditions will be held in person at the Theater at WHATCo, 15 Frank E. Rodgers Blvd. South, Harrison, NJ on Tuesday, January 16th and Wednesday, January 17th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Call backs (if needed) will be January 19th.

Edward Albee: From A to Zoo Series at Black Box Starts Off 2024 with "The Lady From Dubuque". (TEANECK, NJ) -- In association with The Estate of Edward Albee, Black Box PAC presents 1980's The Lady From Dubuque on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Debonair Music Hall: 1409 Queen Anne Road b/w State Street and Walraven Drive in Teaneck. This performance kicks off 2024 with the monthly staged reading event Edward Albee: From A To Zoo, An Exclusive Stage Reading Series of Edward Albee's Plays.

COMEDY

An interview with Comedian Josh Johnson. Comedian Josh Johnson premiered his stand-up special, Josh Johnson: Up Here Killing Myself, last year on Peacock. Johnson will be supporting the special on tour, with stops on January 5 and 6, 2024 at Bananas Comedy Club (located in the Renaissance Hotel, 801 Rutherford Ave, Rutherford NJ).

Thursday, January 11 - Comedy and Metal at Debonair Music Hall. (TEANECK, NJ) -- Join music and comedy fans for a unique evening at Debonair Music Hall on Thursday, January 11, 2024. The night will be hosted by Mark Riccadonna and Richie Byrne of Drinks, Jokes, and Storytelling and featuring the acclaimed metal band Nuse! Showtime is 7:30pm.

Friday, January 12 - Stand-Up Science Presents: Volcano - Live in Asbury Park!. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Ever wonder what happens when a comedian walks into a volcano? You can find out when Ben Miller performs at Showroom Cinemas on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 7:00pm.

Saturday, January 13 - NJPAC presents Mexican Comedian Carlos Ballarta. (NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents Carlos Ballarta, star comedian from Mexico who has taken the stand-up world by storm with his dark humor will perform in Spanish on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 7:00pm. Ballarta has been featured on Comedy Central, and recently released his Netflix special titled, Furia Ñera..

FILM

Friday, January 12 - Lighthouse International Film Society presents a Screening of "Savage Waters". (SURF CITY, NJ) -- Lighthouse International Film Society presents a screening of Savage Waters on Friday, January 12, 2024 at at the Surf City Firehouse (719 Long Beach Blvd). A tantalizing passage in a 19th-century treasure hunter's journal inspires a family of modern-day adventurers to find and surf a spectacular wave in some of the most remote and dangerous waters of the Atlantic Ocean. This award-winning documentary features breathtaking cinematography, and an outstanding original soundtrack. The screening begins at 7:30pm.

(STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- Intelligent, sensitive and adaptable, dogs are ideal for helping us physically and emotionally. Learn about service dogs and therapy dogs and meet them, too, during a Friends Adventure, "Caregiver Canines®," on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the Ocean County Library Stafford Branch.
