(EDISON, NJ) -- Students, faculty, staff, and community members gathered on Thursday for the unveiling of the Student Showcase art exhibit on Middlesex College's Edison campus. The showcase features various student art selected by president Mark McCormick and the College's Visual, Performing, and Media Arts (VPMA) department, which is on display throughout the second floor of Chambers Hall, including the President's suite.
The project was incepted by president McCormick, who wanted to make the atmosphere of Chambers Hall feel more inviting.
"I want a building like Chambers Hall, where so many people visit every day, to feel like a welcome environment to all who enter," said McCormick. "What better way to make everyone feel at home than to fill the walls with the incredible talents of our students?"

The showcase includes art from students and recent alumni of all majors, levels, and mediums – including painting, photography, and sculpture. The goal of this exhibit is to highlight student achievement in a visible, celebratory way that fosters pride, builds connections, and inspires future students to see the value of an education rooted in creativity and self-expression.
"The Student Showcase exhibition is a powerful way for the College to showcase the creativity, talent, and diverse voices of our students while strengthening our commitment to being a hub for the arts," said Middlesex College VPMA Chair Annie Hogan. "It provides students with professional experience in presenting their work, but also engages the wider community, drawing families, alumni, and local partners onto the Middlesex campus."
Congratulations to the featured student and alumni artists: Martha Awkward, Monroe; Jose Camacho, Perth Amboy; John Carreno, South Plainfield; Hui Kuang Cheng, Edison; Gabriela Galan, Piscataway; John Hunnewell, Dunellen; Prajakta Kulkarni, East Brunswick; Kade Marius, Dayton; Kelly Michelle Membreno, Edison; Adamaris Vazquez Navarrete, South River; David Rojas Vidal, New Brunswick; Andrew Rosenblum, Metuchen; Marlene Rosenblum, Metuchen; Noah Spitzer, Monroe; Cypress Thomson, Monmouth Junction; and Zephyr Zambrano, Englishtown.
