Lazlo, founder of BlowUpRadio.com (an online radio station based around New Jersey artists), shines a light on some of the many new releases from NJ based musicians each week with this column. This week Lazlo takes a look at releases by Blind Pete, Teen Idle, CR and The Nones, Bist, Katye Kellye and The Interruption, Dogpile on the Rabbit, and Sleep In. Plus a look back at "A Simple Story Simply Told" by Mike K.

Blind Pete - "Hot and Delicious". Blind Pete's debut album, "Hot and Delicious" is outstanding! The 12 indie-rock/experimental-pop songs are tasty treats for the ears.

Teen Idle - "Saccharine". "Saccharine" is often defined as being excessively sweet or sentimental, but I think Teen Idle's new indie-pop song of the same name is just the right amount of sweetness. It also evokes to me relaxing on a summer day.

CR and The Nones - "The Ghosts Are Coming Home". CR and The Nones use tags such as Americana, rock, alt-country, folk, & singer-songwriter, to describe their music. All of those styles are incorporated into "The Ghosts Are Coming Home", along with a lot of beautiful, lush, harmonies, and introspective lyrics. Blending all of that together has created a masterpiece!

Bist - "Bist Demo". New 3 piece band, Bist, releases 2 songs, "Bist Demo", and I for 1 can't wait to hear more from this indie/garage rock band, that delivers!

Katye Kellye and The Interruption - "Drama Queen". Despite the name, "Drama Queen", Katye Kellye and The Interruption's new single is a drama free rock & roll song... musically.

Dogpile on the Rabbit - "Way Back Now". What happens when the frontman from Casino Sundae (Brian Stabile) starts a new band with the frontman of Fellaheen (Bruce Hanson), and some other veterans of the New Jersey scene (Scott Barnes and Mark Orlandini)? You get Dogpile on the Rabbit, which combines the garage/punk/power-pop of Casino Sundae, with the experimental/roots/Americana/rock of Fellaheen, into an incredible debut album, "Way Back Now".

Sleep In. - "I AM THE FLYING DUTCHMAN!". It has been a few years since I've heard anything new from Sleep In., but based upon their new single, "I AM THE FLYING DUTCHMAN!", the time has been well spent crafting a hard to resist alt-indie-rock tune. Hope there are more on the way.

Not New, But Memorable Corner

Mike K - "A Simple Story Simply Told". Back in 2006 someone recording a whole album in their bedroom generally was an acoustic demo recorded live. Mike K was a rare exception, making a fully formed, layered, beautiful, lush, mellow indie-pop album, "A Simple Story Simply Told", that 17 years later still sounds as striking as it did then.

That's all for this week.

The Newton Theatre presents Jim Messina

(NEWTON, NJ) -- Few musical artists résumés list membership in a band inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; fewer still can lay claim to being a founding member of the seminal band credited with creating Country Rock; and only one artist can include all the above in addition to being one half of the most successful duos of the 1970s: Jim Messina. He's been a member of Buffalo Springfield and would go on to form the band Poco and then Loggins & Messina with Kenny Loggins.
