Lazlo, founder of BlowUpRadio.com (an online radio station based around New Jersey artists), shines a light on some of the many new releases from NJ based musicians each week with this column. This week Lazlo takes a look at new releases by Danello, the dt's, and DirtyHands. Plus a look back at "Jettison The Pod Sparky (30th Anniversary Edition)" by Every Damn Day.

Danello - "Danello, The Sad Surfer". "Danello, The Sad Surfer" is the debut album from Danello, a new project from Dan Taggart (Skytop Motel). There is so much to love about this album. Songs like the early singles, "Surfman Dan" & "O, Lovely World", are earworm pop tunes, with a power-pop edge. "Chorale" sounds like a lost "Pet Sounds" era Beach Boys song, and the album has this mellow surf vibe that is outstanding!

the dt's - "All In My Head". the dt's latest offering, "All In My Head', is an infectious pop rock song that rattled all in my head for hours after hearing it.

DirtyHands - "When You Get A Chance". DirtyHands releases their third catchy single from their forthcoming debut album, "Sonder". "When You Get A Chance" is an emo-pop rock anthem. I am excited to hear the rest of the album.

Not New, But Memorable Corner

Every Damn Day - "Jettison The Pod Sparky (30th Anniversary Edition)". Back in 1993, I was doing a local music show on a college radio station, and Every Damn Day was a band on the rise. One of several bands I really thought was going to get to the next level. Singer-songwriter & front-man, Mike Daly, has the knack for writing catchy earworms, that also had what sound like personal, introspective lyrics... reminding me somewhat of Steven Page (Barenaked Ladies). The 30th anniversary of their quintessential album, "Jettison The Pod Sparky", has just arrived and a remixed/remastered edition that sounds better than ever!

That's all for this week.

The Newton Theatre presents Jim Messina

(NEWTON, NJ) -- Few musical artists résumés list membership in a band inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; fewer still can lay claim to being a founding member of the seminal band credited with creating Country Rock; and only one artist can include all the above in addition to being one half of the most successful duos of the 1970s: Jim Messina. He's been a member of Buffalo Springfield and would go on to form the band Poco and then Loggins & Messina with Kenny Loggins.
