(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ) -- The Arts Institute of Middlesex County is presenting, promoting, and supporting a multitude of arts and culture events, exhibitions, and shows throughout the month of March. These events are free to enjoy for all County residents and beyond.
March's event highlights include:
Windows of Understanding - Metuchen "Meet the Artist" Reception: This public reception will highlight the artwork on display in the windows; guests are invited to meet the Windows of Understanding artists and featured organizational partners to learn more. Free refreshments will be served. This reception will take place on March 11 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Berkshire Hathaway, 564 Middlesex Ave, Metuchen, NJ.
Closing Reception: All are welcome to the closing reception of the 2023 Windows of Understanding season, which will take place on March 30 at 4:30pm. Guests are encouraged to bring a food item with them to donate to REPLENISH, which supplies food pantries across Middlesex County.
Wash and Learn: They are excited to share this innovative bilingual (Spanish-English) program called Wash and Learn. This creative literacy program organized by Roosevelt Elementary School in New Brunswick provides books for children of all ages, as well as adults. All donations are housed at a local laundromat to encourage students to read while parents are doing their laundry. To donate books to New Brunswick’s Wash and Learn program, please contact Anne-Marie Riveaux McMahon and Maritza Acevedo.
First Fridays: Kick off your weekend on March 10 from 3:00pm-5:00pm in Monument Square Park! Join them for music by DJ Lady Star, complimentary patties by The Jamaican Patty Wagon, face painting by Meraki Face and Body Art, caricatures by Matthew Many, a mural installation by New Brunswick High School art teacher David Lago and New Brunswick High School students, and lots of good vibes to kick off the season! Help us celebrate Women’s History Month by sharing a story of a woman who has positively influenced you. These stories might even be shared on the Arts Institute’s social media. In the event the weather is a challenge, First Friday activities move into the second floor of the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC).
14th Annual Holi Festival: Please join them for a vibrant, fun-filled celebration of the Indian festival of colors! This program is free and open to all ages. There will be music and dance performances, henna, children's activities, and Holi color play! This event will take place March 25 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at the New Brunswick Public Library.
