Music Mountain Theatre presents "Avenue Q"
 

(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre (MMT) presents Avenue Q for a three-weekend run from June 14-30, 2024. Avenue Q, the 2003 winner of the Tony "Triple Crown" for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book, is part flesh, part felt, and packed with heart, and will be the eighth mainstage show of MMT's 2024 season.

 



Centenary Stage Company's Summer Musical Series Includes 'Grease' and 'I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change'
 

(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- This summer, Centenary Stage Company presents the 2024 summer musical series featuring Grease and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. Performances for Grease will run July 11–21 and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change will run August 1-11 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center of the Centenary University campus in Hackettstown.

 



Black Box presents a Staged Reading of 'All Over' by Edward Albee
 

(TEANECK, NJ) -- In association with The Estate of Edward Albee, Black Box presents All Over (1971) on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 at Debonair Music Hall. Showtime is 7:30pm. This is part of the company's exclusive staged reading series of all of Albee's plays. As described on the Edward Albee Society website, All Over takes place in a majestic townhouse as a great man lay dying.

First Look Review - 'In A Violent Nature'
 

Recounting his first time performing as a nervous young pianist on stage with Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock claimed that halfway through the show the legendary trumpeter leaned over his shoulder and whispered the words "Don't play the butter notes kid." Initially puzzled, Hancock tried to wrap his head around what Davis meant by this odd instruction. Then it clicked. Davis was telling the piano prodigy to leave out the obvious notes, to create something fresh through omission. Hancock had been playing jazz for a while by that point, but that was the day he finally understood jazz.

 



2024 New Jersey International Film Festival Winners Announced!
 

The Competition component of the 2024 New Jersey International Film Festival has just concluded! Here below are the Award Winning films and the Festival Director's Citations. All the works that we are screening are part of the New Jersey International Film Festival were selected by a panel of judges including media professionals, journalists, students, and academics. These judges selected the 34 finalists which were publicly screened at our Festival. The finalists were selected from over 702 works submitted by filmmakers from around the world. In addition, the judges choose the Prize Winners in conjunction with the Festival Director. Congratulations to all the winners and the official selections!

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Asbury Underground Art and Music Crawl and art629 Gallery present: "Passion Projects", a locals art exhibit featuring work by nine local artists, curated by Britany James. Artists included are Dean Adams, Eleanor James, Mallory Massara, Meagg E. Moon, Michelle Renee Bernard, Nicole Atkins, Tim Lucas, and Zachary Manning. Brittany will also be showing a few pieces from her passion project, the "Untamed" collection. The exhibit runs from June 15 through August 5, 2024. There will be an Opening Reception on June 22 from 7:00pm-9:00pm.

Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum Announces Juneteenth Artist Lineup
 

(SKILLMAN, NJ) -- The Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum (SSAAM), Central New Jersey's only museum sharing the history of African Americans since the trans-Atlantic Slave trade, will hold its third annual Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm (rain or shine) at Mt. Zion AME Church and historic True Farmstead in Skillman.
