Classic Radio Road Show to Perform Radio Comedies at Navesink and Monroe Libraries

(NAVESINK, NJ) -- Classic Radio Road Show is presenting two radio comedies from the same series, "My Favorite Husband",  on Saturday, May 18 at The Navesink Library and Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the Monroe Public Library. Radio plays employ sound effects produced live (Foley), with the voice actors and recorded music to help tell the story.  Showtime is 2:00pm for both performances.

"My Favorite Husband" was the template for "I love Lucy", both starring Lucille Ball.  This series was broadcast for 124 episodes from 1948 to 1951.

In these episodes, Liz and Iris make a bet with their husbands that they can diet and fit into their new dresses before the men can fit into their new suits, little do each know that the others are sabotaging them!  In "The Young Matron's League Tryouts",  Liz wants to audition for a play without her husband knowing, but her behavior at home while she rehearses makes him think she's become unravelled and needs a psychiatrist!  Don't miss these delightful short plays!  The cast includes Gwen Ricks-Spencer, Laurie Noch, Marcia Finn, Elaine Steelman, Michael Bürgi, Duane Noch, Anthony Aversano and Sheldon Fallon.

Tickets for the performance at The Navesink Library  (149 Monmouth Ave, Navesink) are available for purchase online or at the door.  Click here to register for the performance at the Monroe Public Library (4 Municipal Plaza, Monroe).

Classic Radio Road Show, Inc. (CRRS) is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) (educational) corporation in the state of New Jersey. All donations will help entertain and educate the public about this historical art form that should be preserved. They will also develop new scripts that explore themes relevant to the 21st Century. In addition, CRRS plans to provide performances, audience participation, and classes for students about the history of radio broadcasts.
