After their longest gap between albums, the great “Johnny Clash”-inspired Asbury Park band The Vansaders are back with a vengeance, releasing their latest album, “Caught in the Light,” on August 4th at 90.5 the Night’s Songwriters on the Beach concert series in Belmar.

“Wasting Time,” the latest single from the anticipated collection is the Makin Waves Song of the Week.

As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “Wasting Time” also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on Aug. 5 on “Radio Jersey” at ThePenguinRocks.com. If you miss it, you also can tune in any time at The Penguin or MixCloud

“‘Wasting Time’” was written and recorded a few years ago,” guitarist-vocalist Deaglan Howlett said. “I wrote it on an acoustic guitar and brought it to the band one practice where it took on a whole new life. Since this was my first time singing a song with Vansaders, I wanted to write something ‘heavier,’ both musically and lyrically. The band made the song. I just wrote it.”

Also on behalf of bassist Kyle Zupe and drummer Jay Maranzino, founding vocalist-guitarist Doug Zambon added, “We recorded this album at Little Eden with Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls just before the pandemic. In fact, It was mastered by Tom Ruff the second week of quarantine. It’s such a relief to finally get these songs out all together. It had been planned as a full-length for at least a year before it got finished, and the pandemic hit.   We are super proud of these tunes and are very happy to finally share it with you in its full-album form.”

The band released several singles from the LP, as well as a powerful video two years ago for “Siren’s Song.”

Don’t miss The Vansaders on Sept. 18 when they rock the Sea Hear Now! music festival, which also will take place Sept. 17 and feature fellow Asbury acts Dogs in a Pile, Dentist, and Lost in Society, as well as headliners Stevie Nicks and Green Day.
