(VOORHEES, NJ) -- The Voorhees Theatre Company (VTC), a regional, nonprofit theater organization, will present Disney’s The Lion King, Jr. Aug. 3-6, at Voorhees Middle School. The performances are the culmination of the theater company’s summer youth camp.
The all-youth production will put on display the skills campers learned during their six-week program. VTC runs the summer camp for grades 3-8 annually, teaching young people acting technique or many of the technical aspects of theater production, including set construction, lighting and other behind-the-scenes disciplines.
The Lion King, Jr. brings the African savannah to life on stage. With Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters, they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.
Two casts will present The Lion King, Jr. Aug. 3, 2016, at 10 a.m.; Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.; Aug. 5 at 7:30 p.m.; and Aug. 6 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets for all performances are $10, and are available at www.voorheestheatre.org. Voorhees Middle School is located at 1000 Holly Oak Drive in Voorhees.
Voorhees Theatre Company is a 501c3 regional theatre organization whose goal is to provide opportunities to young people of South Jersey to experience theatre as performers, technicians, managers, and audience members. Each year, it typically offers a “Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre”; summer performance and technical camps, culminating in a youth production; a young adult musical; a fall all-ages musical production; and many other educational and performance opportunities.
