(RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater Company presents The Women of Padilla in the Rechnitz Theater from April 8-30. Written by Tony Meneses, the play involves eight women finding a way to carry on life at home while their husbands are away at an unnamed war.
Through the power of food, faith, laughter, and each other, the women find ways to go on. Inspired by the heightened lyricism of playwright and poet Federico Garcia Lorca, this new play shows there is always a way - even through the hardest of times - to set our love free.
The cast includes Karina Arroyave (Blanca), Helen Cespedes (Lucha), Jacqueline Correa (Mari), Daniella De Jesus (Fidela), Paloma Guzman (Alejandra), Keren Lugo (Marta), Elizabeth Ramos (Cristina), and Jeanine Serralles (Carmen).
The production is directed by Ken Rus Schmoll.
On Monday, April 17 at 7:00pm, Two River Theater will present a Spanish-language reading of Las Mujeres de Padilla (The Women of Padilla). Admission is free and open to both Spanish-speaking and English-speaking audiences. The reading will take place on the set and will feature cast members from the show and guest actors.
