Theater League of Clifton to Present Thos Shipley’s Tribute to Nat King Cole(CLIFTON, NJ) -- The Theater League of Clifton will sponsor a musical fund-raiser, “Thos Shipley’s Tribute to Jazz Great Nat King Cole,” featuring Thos Shipley and his trio, with performances on Saturday, August 19 at 8:00pm and Sunday, August 20 at 6:00pm, at Mario’s Restaurant, 710 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. An international performer based out of New York City region, Shipley performed the role of John in the Original Broadway Cast of “Miss Saigon,” and is a five-time MAC award winner (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) for “Outstanding Jazz Vocalist.” Shipley studied acting, dance and theater at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in New York, and has performed at venues in Atlantic City, Manhattan and worldwide.

Tickets can be reserved online, by phone or by regular mail. To reserve tickets, call (973) 928-7668, or visit the theater league’s website. Tickets for the musical revue are priced at $45 per person, which includes a hot and cold appetizer buffet, wine, beer and soda.

Nat King Cole (1919-1965) was a legendary American vocalist and jazz pianist. Famous for his smooth baritone voice, his beloved hit songs during the 1950s and 1960s included “Unforgettable,” “Misty,” “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire),” “Mona Lisa,” “Too Young,” and “Ramblin’ Rose.” Shipley will bring these songs and other selections to life during his Clifton performance.

Founded in 2005, The Theater League of Clifton is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering an appreciation of the arts through theatrical performances, while providing quality entertainment for all ages. The theater league welcomes volunteers in all aspects of performance and production. Mark Peterson is the president of the organization.
