The Shakespeare Theatre to host Volunteer Open House

(MADISON, NJ) --  The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, named Company of the Year by The Wall Street Journal, is seeking volunteers to assist with ushering, concessions, and its gift shop for the Theatre’s 2015 Season which begins May 28th.  The Shakespeare Theatre will hold a Volunteer Open House on Wednesday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre in Madison.   Community members interested in volunteering are invited to attend this open house to enjoy a preview of the 2015 Season from the artistic staff, mingle with veteran volunteers, and learn about the Theatre’s volunteer opportunities. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served. For more information, call 973-408-3694 or email boxoffice@shakespearenj.org.

In return for their work, volunteers receive ticket vouchers redeemable for admissions to the Theatre’s productions throughout the season.   Performances are held Tuesday through Sunday evenings, with matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday matinees, beginning May 27 at the Theatre’s Main Stage, the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre in Madison.  Volunteers are also needed for the Theatre’s production on its Outdoor Stage – the Greek Theatre on the campus of the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station—running June 17 through July 26.  For a full schedule, more information, or to sign up to volunteer, call 973-408-3694 or email box office@shakespearenj.org. Information about The Shakespeare Theatre can be found online at ShakespeareNJ.org.

The Theatre’s 53rd season includes six Main Stage productions at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre in Madison: the American comedy classic The Royal Family, George Bernard Shaw’s Misalliance, Artistic Director Bonnie J. Monte’s new adaptation of Molnar’s provocative comedy The Guardsman, the New Jersey premiere of Equivocation, an award-winning adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank, and Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor. This summer, the Bard’s Love’s Labour’s Lost will be performed on the Outdoor Stage—the Greek amphitheater on the campus of The College of Saint Elizabeth in Florham Park.
