The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents "Camelot"

originally published: 04/17/2017

The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents "Camelot"(PITMAN, NJ) -- The legendary musical, Camelot, will be presented at the Broadway Theatre of Pitman from April 21, 2017 – May 14, 2017.  Camelot is the classic legend of the Knights of the Round Table in King Arthur's reign, and the tragic love triangle between the noble King Arthur, the errant but lovely Queen Guenevere and the trusted Sir Lancelot. This classic tale follows Arthur from a young, ambitious, idealistic King who dreams of creating a fair society to the pessimistic king bearing witness to his dream’s destruction.

Arthur’s dream is inspired by his lively-spirited Queen Guenevere. Together, they create a kingdom based on unity. As the unification of this kingdom starts to become reality, things take a turn for the worse when Guenevere falls in love with Arthur’s most celebrated, beloved, and loyal knight, Sir Lancelot. Will King Arthur be able to create the ideal society that he’s always hoped for while facing the world of human realities?

Camelot has received multiple awards in 1960 and is recognized for its use of lyrical simplicity and lush romanticism in songs like "Camelot," "C'est Moi," "If Ever I Would Leave You" and "I Loved You Once in Silence." The original production was followed by several revivals and foreign shows. In 1967, a movie version starring Richard Harris, Franco Nero, and Vanessa Redgrave was released. This beloved live musical continues to attract audiences worldwide. A musical so loved that an entire bus-full of patrons from Anderson, South Carolina are embarking on a journey to the Broadway Theatre of Pitman to see this highly-acclaimed musical.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm; Sundays at 2:00pm.  Matinees held on Saturdays at 2:00pm on April 29 and May 13. An evening performance at 7:00pm will be held on Sunday, May 7.
