The Association to Perform LIVE! this Saturday at NJ’s Newton Theatre

(NEWTON, NJ) — The iconic pop group, The Association, is set to perform at New Jersey’s historic Newton Theatre this Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 8:00pm. One of the most popular groups of the ‘60s, The Association has sold over 80 million recordings, earning six gold and three platinum discs. Their Greatest Hits compilation is one of the best-selling albums in Warner Bros. Records history, and their singles continue to receive radio airplay years after their release.

The Association was formed in 1965. After rehearsing for several months, they began to perform live in coffee houses, folk clubs, and colleges, in addition to proms and parties throughout Southern California. Their fan base in Los Angeles grew into millions as their songs like “Never My Love,” “Windy,” “Along Comes Mary,” and “Cherish” made their way up the radio airplay charts.

The Association was the first rock band to perform at the Tanglewood Music Festival and they also made history as the first band anywhere to open a rock festival — the now historic Monterey Pop Festival. During the the late 1960’s, they were nominated for seven Grammy awards. At the time, they also made appearances on such major television variety shows as The Ed Sullivan Show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, American Bandstand, Shindig, The Andy Williams Show, and many more.

In 2003, The Association was inducted into The Vocal Group Hall of Fame. Today, they continue to tour, playing with symphony orchestras, at music festivals, and at a variety of concert venues. With a mix of original and newer members — notably Jim Yester on guitar and vocals, Del Ramos on bass and vocals, Jules Alexander on lead guitar and vocals, Jordan Cole on keyboards, Paul Holland on lead guitar and vocals, and Bruce Pictor on drums and vocals — The Association is still going strong and sounding better than ever!

Come rekindle treasured memories — and make new ones in the process — by experiencing the music of The Association LIVE! Tickets range from $34 to $49 and are available at www.thenewtontheatre.com or by contacting the Newton Theatre Box Office at 973–383–3700. The Newton Theatre presents Jim Messina

(NEWTON, NJ) -- Few musical artists résumés list membership in a band inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; fewer still can lay claim to being a founding member of the seminal band credited with creating Country Rock; and only one artist can include all the above in addition to being one half of the most successful duos of the 1970s: Jim Messina. He's been a member of Buffalo Springfield and would go on to form the band Poco and then Loggins & Messina with Kenny Loggins.
