(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents Grammy® Award-winning artist Patti LaBelle on Sunday, April 8 at 7:00pm. Known for her powerhouse vocals and electrifying live performances, LaBelle’s hits include “If Only You Knew,” “When You Talk About Love,” “New Attitude,” “Stir It Up,” “Lady Marmalade,” and “Somebody Loves You Baby.” Tickets range from $45-$125.
Patricia Louise Holte, otherwise known as Pattie LaBelle, discovered her powerful voice as a choir member, which propelled her to become the lead vocalist for Patti LaBelle & The Bluebelles. Currently, LaBelle is a solo artist with the same energy that keeps her fire burning at 73 years young. More than just a singer, LaBelle is also known as a songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, and author. Her music career has spanned decades and fans across the world will always recognize her unique versatile mixture of classic rhythm, blues renditions, pop standards, and spiritual sonnets.
LaBelle has written five best-selling books, Don’t Block the Blessings, LaBelle Cuisine: Recipes to Sing About, Patti’s Pearls, Patti LaBelle’s Lite Cuisine, and Recipes for the Good Life. More recently, she introduced Patti’s Good Life, a successful line of food products that features a variety of sauces, sweet potato pie, and cakes, and has starred in her own highly rated cooking specials on the Cooking Channel and Food Network.
In addition to her amazing career as an entertainer and in entrepreneurial success, LaBelle’s work as a humanitarian is legendary. She remains an advocate for adoption, foster care, Big Sisters, and the United Negro College Fund, among many other initiatives. While LaBelle's celebrated 50-plus year career is respected world-wide, she has also endured and survived personal strife. Within a 10-year period, she lost her mother, three sisters, and best friend to diabetes and cancer. In 1994, LaBelle was diagnosed with diabetes and shortly thereafter, became a spokesperson for the American Diabetes Association.
